Not quite the start to the season we would have wished and after our first game at Encounter Bay against South Adelaide very disappointing to be one win and 3 losses and 8th on the premiership table.
It is interesting to note Ron Fuller’s comments in his weekly email to members this week in that he along with the coaching panel and the players are not looking for excuses nor in panic mode but are working hard to get the ledger back to 2 and 3 this week. In part Ron said
“Against West Adelaide I thought we had about three quarters of solid football that would have been enough to win had we taken our chances. We just didn’t nail the opportunities we had created for ourselves. This says where we probably are at the moment and we are under no illusion of that or what we have to do.
The first thing we have to do is win a game of football and with Glenelg in pretty good form; this week poses a big challenge for our club. The good thing about our game is that it demands character if you want to achieve, particularly under adversity. The other good thing about our game is that it rewards those that work hard and want to make it happen.â€
Sunday’s game against Glenelg is now very important and we need all Eagle fans to stick together and to get to the Bay to support the boys.
Selection will be very interesting this week as some on our long injury list will be having tests and could be available for consideration plus the reserves have been going very well under new coach Andrew Rogers with many pressing for league selection. I’d expect to see a squad of say 25 or so announced today for Sunday’s game.
Main training session is tonight at Woodville – watch for your team selection email late today or tomorrow.
If you haven’t joined yet then get on board now and let the guys know you really do support them and sign up for your 3 free weekly emails to keep you up to date about all the footy happenings at the club.

Thanks to the great crowd who attended our Members Night to start the season – I know from comments everyone enjoyed Mark Passador’s catering (thanks to Vili) as we all enjoyed a great footy club Pie Night!
Jon Floreani has announced his retirement from league football and is enjoying playing footy in the Adelaide Hills league. Jon has been a stalwart of our club and everyone wishes Flo all the very best – Jon will be attending our games supporting the boys whenever he can.
A couple of big events coming soon – put into your diaries now:
• Heritage Round at Thebarton 9th June wearing the Blue and Gold striped jumper of West Torrens from the 70s.
• Major Auction Night 30th June at the Adelaide Oval Pavilion
• Gavin Colville Testimonial Game vs Sturt 11th August with Dinner Event that night.

Wine Nights you get 5 course meal with wines and the wine maker in attendance to explain what we are drinking and how it all comes together - $55 a head – not bad for 5 course meal and 5 different wines and they take orders at discounted prices! I certainly got my value the other night – think I had 2 bottles of red just by myself ! – (donuts aren’t on the menu for those who know me!) Next Wine Night 15th June, Wirra Wirra wines.
Super Sunday just $25 for BBQ, drinks package for 2 and half hours and entry in the draw for 12 cash prizes – first prize $1000 - lots of other raffles, giveaways and prizes during the afternoon – next super Sunday 24th June. ALL WELCOME
