R8: Port v Norwood review

All discussions to do with the SANFL

Both games this year between the clubs have been of a brilliant standard.
And Norwood did not have the services of our best forward Jericho.
Norwood just seemed to quick around the packs all day.
MCGUINESS/GALLAGHER/BAILEY/AISH [in the 1st half 4 goals] were amongst the best.
In all sincerity the scoreboard flattered PA as they should have lost by about 9 goals.

The first encounter was similar NW were flattered to get as close to PA that night.

Port did well to come away with the points today, they will consolidate and improve their position as the run in to the finals begins.

Agreed, especially if he never plays a game of SANFL or minimal games like Clarke did, South are still laughing over that one and West might be laughing the same way yet.

Surely you don't think Jericho will play the rest of his days with the Crows?

Once Ricciuto returns and Jericho has two bad games in a row, he will be sent down to the Legs. As well as he's played over the past 3 weeks, no way will he stay with the Crows on a permanent basis.

Disappointing effort by Port, our record at Alberton isn't good at all this year (probably hasn't been good for a few years now).

On paper the club should be doing a lot better than it is, there doesn't appear to be the "team" culture of previous eras. If the club doesn't make the top 3 this year will be interesting to see if Ginever stays as senior coach.

For those who have seen Jessie Aish, would he be a worthwhile father/son pick up for the Crows (i presume he would qualify)? I guess his age would count against him, but if he continues to develop this year who knows he may be considered AFL standard.

Is it possible to have a father son Rookie list??????? if so then a good chance for one of those I reckon. Legs fans would have to licking their lips in anticipation of his brother pulling on a jumper. first game of 1st 18s last season and kicked 6 in a pocket while in year nine I think

No I dont (mind you Bays fans thought that about Clarke too although its unfair to compare the 2 as they're at opposite ends of the career spectrum) but I can see Jericho as being the sort of player that if not good enough to stay in the Crows best 18 would be the sort of player to be traded to a Vic club at the end of the year hence making his transfer fee a bonus for Westies.
I could prove to be wrong but Norwood will learn the lesson that a few other clubs learnt a while back and to me it just shows a club like Westies is a little bit more mature in the recruiting stakes than a club like Norwood.
Only my opinion though.

i think this is an excellent quote. Port just dont have that 'feel' about them anymore...no more aura or whatever you want to call it that they had back in the day. Half the team isnt really 'port' anyway with all the recruits they have picked up and all. And after their recruiting of the bloke that was half way home then heard the ching ching, just doenst seem right...oh well, i dont care, they can underperform all they like now :)

too bad that port adelaide now have 2 'souless' teams running around.

Because there were more at the Central v North game than the clash of the 'traditional rivals', does that mean those two teams can stamp their claim on ANZAC Day?
