I cant agree that Macca did gutless things - any stuff in this category was typically face to face from Macca and more often than not opposition players would run away from him, no matter how big there were.

Whilst the contact made by Clayton was not grave, it was unnecessary. Dawes was 30m at least behind the play and Clayton's contact was made whilst Dawes was face down on the ground and just climbing to all fours before contemplating his ability to stand up. Hence, he was not (nor should he have been) expecting anyone (other than a trainer maybe) in his area and certainly did not see it coming. The reason Clayton got caught was because the northern field umpire was watching Dawes on the ground after the ball had travelled south along the western wing into an area being monitored by the central umpire.

Forget the past or open up a new room such would be the volume of possible threads and comments. It was a cheap act, unnecessary and indefensible.

Read my post again Booney. I know there was contact, where he got hit I did not see. My first sentence/question asked if anyone else saw it. Still looked gutless.

Must admit I didn't see the incident, was watching what looked like a certain PAM goal coming up and was pretty relieved to see the ball pulled back.

A couple of my Port mates saw it and said it was pretty much a push with his leg, rather than a strike with the knee as such ... They also felt it was stupid and unnecessary, worthy of a free kick, but free of danger/malice.

All part of the game, no harm done and as such no big deal imho.

Unnecessary yes, but there was nothing really physical in it as some have made out.

He barely pushed with his legs.

We bumped into a few of the Norwood guys out on saturday night, and had some good banter with a couple including Dawes.

He laughed it off, and said it wasnt worthy of a free kick.
