NT AFL 2006
NTFL Vs North Adelaide
1:00pm Sunday, February 12, 2006
For the first time, ABC2 brings the NTAFL comp to a national audience.
The first recorded match of Australian Football in Darwin was played in February 1916 on Darwin Town Oval. The choice of playing during the 'wet season' was primarily due to the rock-hard condition of the playing surface during the 'dry season'. That tradition has continued until the present day.
Wins against Glenelg, Essendon, Sydney Swans and North Melbourne put NTAFL on the map in the 80s, but perhaps the greatest achievement for the state code is the talented players the state has produced. Names such as Maurice Roli, Michael Mclean, the McAdam brothers and Ronnie Burns have ensured NTAFL is kept in the spotlight.
Tune in for the weekly telecasts of the final 8 games of the season.
