Eagles PATHETIC !!!!

Postby LPH » Tue Jun 12, 2007 10:29 am

Firstly, I did tip Norwood to win & they are a good side, full of confidence but ...

They way our boys played on Saturday was a DISGRACE !!!

They were inept, 2nd to the ball & VERY LOOSE.

Accountability factor was ZERO.

This is NOT the 1st time this season ( Centrals, Port & now Norwood ).
I had more than 1 flashback to the '70's & '80's on Saturday & it wasn't just the jumper they were wearing.

If that is what Fuller, the rest of the coaching staff & more importantly the playing group are going to serve up over the next 3 weeks against quality opposition ( North, Centrals & Port ), then season 2007 is lost. :?

Perhaps we as Eagles supporters have been spoilt over the past few years & just expect a win most weeks. I think that the players too have this 'mindset' at present.

C'mon Eagles, WAKE UP & stop resting on your achievements of last season !!!

The season is far from gone but unless they are ACCOUNTABLE then mediocity will continue.

We need to win the next 2 or hopefully next 3 games to stay in touch , if not our season could be doomed! :(

Exactly. It is an even season and the teams currently sitting 2nd and 3rd on the ladder will lack finals experience so it is really up to us to turn things around.

FWIW - I'd be making a couple of changes this week and would go like this:

F: Inkster Passador Dabrowski
HF: Petrenko Grocke Symmons
C: Jarrad Powell Treeby
HB: McKenzie Hier Salter
B: Fairclough Pedler Fiacchi
R: Lindsay Vince Cooper
I: Batsanis Stewart Rugolo or Cicolella

Ins: Inkster, Petrenko, Rugolo or Cicolella
Outs: Lomas, Redden, Klun

Inkster was named best in the reserves. I only saw the last quarter and he looked very rusty, but he's still a class act and should be straight back in.

You never know what you're going to get with Rugolo, but he has performed in the reserves and should be given a chance to prove himself. He has a lot of upside if he is performing well, which is why I'd give him a go ahead of Klun, who would be unlucky to be dropped. If Cica is fit, I'd put him in ahead of Rugolo

Petrenko was named best in the state trial and has been in the best pretty much every game in the reserves. It's about time he is given a run in the league. His accountability is much better than the likes of Fitzgerald and Batsanis who have been put in ahead of him and Lomas was very disappointing against Norwood. Yes, he has been playing in defence in reserves, but I have seen him up forward before and that is where we need a player like him most at the moment.

A number of players who have kept there spot need a kick up the butt. Stewart, Batsanis and Hier in particular need to pull their finger out after last weeks performance.

What's kluny done wrong Aerie. My thoughts are in an under performing side for most of season he has been one of our more consistent performers. Has been doing more than an adequate job up foraward all season and has kicked a goal in each of his games. Hardly a player that you'd want to drop one would suggest.

The Injuries to Inkster, Cicolella and Colville have definately played contributing factors and I must say I underestimated the impact the loss of regulars like Westbrook and Potter have had. This hasn't helped but having said that quality sides are able to cover the loss of such players. I've always said our depth would be the envy of most clubs but this hasn't been the case as is also evidenced with the lack lustre performances by the B's this season also.

C'mon Eagles wake up or else it could be too late. :(

Sounds like a team satisfied with finally winning a flag.
Much like Port(AFL) 2004/2005.
If one person does it, it's insanity. If millions do it, it's religion.

Backing up after winning a premiership is hard particularly after so many disappintments before that.
Only champion teams can usually do it but I dont write the Eagles off yet they have too many good players and the other teams are not that far in front.
