EAGLE NEWS #6

Postby cd » Fri Jun 15, 2007 11:45 pm

After 8 games to be 4 and 4 is not really where we saw ourselves. We’ve been very inconsistent but the ability and passion is there and hopefully we will 5 and 4 as of 4:30 on Sunday. 12 games to go and as Centrals showed in 2006 you only have to be around the 50:50 mark at the half way point of the season to launch an attack into the top 3.

2007 has been disappointing from the injury point of view – the medical room seems to have a revolving door on it – just as you think the list is getting less new guys turn up! Looks like Mark McKenzie will be out for a couple, Gavin Colville still 4 weeks away with his broken wrist and a couple of boys in doubt for Sunday – may be a late change or two yet.

But beware the wounded Eagle with our wings clipped last week we do need to bounce back and some players get another chance to show their skills at league level.
Sunday should be a great game at Prospect – get along to support the Boys.

The auction of jumpers from the West Torrens heritage game are on ebay at the moment and there are some real bargains. ONLY A DAY LEFT TO BID – closes around 4:30pm tomorrow Saturday – a great chance to get a Torrens striped jumper and then bid for a Woodville one later in the year!

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL EAGLE MEMBERS - Without me driving everyone nuts we have a new membership record – already ahead of last year’s total of 2051. As of today we have a total of 2057 members – can we break 2100 for the first time? 43 to go.
If you’re not a member then please get on board.
This is a great testament to Eagle fans as we haven’t performed as we’d all wish so far this year but you’ve stuck with us and our membership base is growing – Thanks to all who have joined up – your support is very much appreciated by all at the club – Board, Players, Coaches, & Support Staff.

All footy fans attending our home games have a chance to win an LCD TV valued at $999 from the GOOD GUYS at Mile End – just fill in the entry form and drop in the box in the clubrooms at home games – good luck.

Members have 2 chances to win $500 – just check your newsletter for the offer from Members Equity Bank for your chance to pick up $500 and then there is the Members draw on Thursday night at the club – be there to win!

Even with our inconsistent form it is interesting to note our crowd numbers are up so far this season – membership up and attendances up – get on board folks join the growing club!!

It has also been really great to see past players at our games along with our AFL guys. Noted the other day were Rhett Biglands, Jason King, Brent Frewen, Ashley Manuel, Jon Floreani along with quite a few from Torrens days last weekend at Thebby including David McKay.

Thanks to Hills Industries for supplying all members with their own discount card for the Hills centre at Edwardstown – another great reason to be a member – you get to enjoy great benefits!

Please note the game against West Adelaide at Thebarton has been changed to SATURDAY 7th July.

Important coming Events include Super Sunday $25 lunch and 2 hours drinks plus entry into $1000 draw – Sunday 24 June All Welcome and Major Auction June 30th. Check the website or call the club for details.

Robbie Fiacchi’s knee operation went well and he will be starting rehab in the coming week and hopefully he’ll be fighting fit for 2008!

We do have some characters at the club – When asked what was his biggest thrill in life George Pedler answered “training with Justin Cicolella” and James Rimington answered “meeting his house mates” which includes George!!!!!!

Hope to see you at the footy – Now for just 43 more members!!

At Presentations tonight Ron Fuller again apologised to supporters for last weeks effort against Norwood BUT was pleased with the endeavour and heart shown by the boys today.

Also had late changes with Klun and Salter out of named team - injuries and Vince flew back from QLD this morning to play.

Ron also acknowledged that on the day we were beaten by the better side in North Adelaide.

Our best as announced

That's good news. Although there will be some handy players we could nab from the pre-match entertainment. Get Payze back on the wing!
