Sturt's jersey last Saturday v Port.

Postby Mr66 » Wed Jun 20, 2007 8:11 pm

This may have addressed on another thread but I couldn't find it so here goes.
The ABC commentator(don't know which) said that Sturt was wearing a
commemorative 1967 jersey? WTF?!
Anyone have the real reason?
If one person does it, it's insanity. If millions do it, it's religion.

Commemorative Guernsey Update

The Club would like to thank everyone that came to Unley Oval on Saturday to help celebrate the 1967 Grand Final, the players that were there really did enjoy the day and want to pass on their thanks!

We are receiving lots of calls this morning regarding the auctioning of the jumpers on EBay. Just to let you all know that we are currently having the jumpers dry cleaned ready to be signed on Wednesday. We will be putting them on EBay on Thursday and Friday.

40 years on from the 67 premiership is OK to celebrate I reckon. Why do we sometimes put the guilt trip on clubs trying to raise funds?

I haven't checked photos from the 67 GF but assume it wasn't meant to be a replica 1967 guernsey tho? Just a commemorative one.

Looked great all the same I thought
In between signatures .....

At the bottom of the guernsey is listed the entire 67 team, with the option of getting them (still kicking) to sign it as well as the current player as I understand it. Wouldn't mind getting this year's Ken Farmer Medallist's top ;)

I understand it was because the original Sturt guernsey clashed too much with one of Port Power's guernsey's and they didn't want the crowd to get confused as to which team they should barrack for.

I watched the game on the box, and actually thought the guernsey looked excellent ... Still, they could have been wearing Glad Wrap whilst beating Port and I would have thought the same :D

yes, same here, plus it was a little smaller too.

not many ppl know that we have gone thru a few suttle changes in our jumper over the years, mostly with colours/size of logo unlike the eagles or legs changes for instance.

i love the jumper no matter what and think they all have looked good but that 2000's one is the best. the one circa 93-95 was schocking

Powder blue guernsey with those gridiron style numbers on the back was definitely a low point so far as style is concerned Jimmy... Our performances back then matched!
