1st week double header on Saturday
2nd week double header on Saturday
3rd week Fri night Prelim
4th week Sat arvo GF

90% of the times the Crows or Port won't clash with the Sat arvo finals in the first 2 weeks, it got moved one year when it did and it never got moved back.
ABC would be happier too as they could show all 4 weeks on a Saturday afternoon, their preferred timeslot with 3 weeks live and one delayed from the previous night.
Even if their was a Power/Crows clash on the sat arvo in the 1st 2 weeks, the short term pain would be more than made up with gain on the Fri and Sat prelim and GF.

I'm with you 100%. It's a common sense finals structure.

I think the current set up is fine, but open for some experimentation. Maybe for the first two weeks, have the first game at 4:30, and the second game at 7:30, then 7:30PF, then 3:00pm GF

However, North's idea of a 4:00pm Friday GF is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of. They must really want the GF played in an empty stadium with an idea like that! Don't they realise that people have work, or parents would be picking kids up from school around that time. What were they thinking?

Unfortunately common sense probably won't come into it, not much has come from the league in the past.

i haven't actually read any statement/press release where Jarman said a 4 o'clock start? In the statement I read in the paper he advocated a Friday evening GF - starting presumably at 7.30 as the present Friday night games do. Not even Jars is that supid to suggest a 4 p.m. start however someone please feel free to point me to where he has actually said he suggests a 4 o'clock start.?

"If it's a four o'clock start at AAMI Stadium on a Friday, then why not?," Jarman said. " from AdelaideNow

I get the feeling he was talking about the reserves starting at that time, but was put out of context in the article. I'm sure he wouldn't be serious about the league... :?

Common sense yes but whilst the SANFL finals are dictated by the scheduling of AFL finals it simply won't happen. You wouldn't see SANFL play saturday arvo finals if it's in direct competition to the Crows or Power whether they were playing home or away. The SANFL hold the licenses to the 2 AFL teams in SA and whilst that's the case they won't go head to head against them. The Crows and Power put far too much money back into the SANFL and it's clubs they won't do anything to jeopardise that investment.

Jars's comments stupidity was only surpassed by the people who assumed he was speaking for the NAFC.
Derr people.
(Yes Brucetiki we're speaking to you!)
