Local Legend Signs with Panthers

Postby Wedgie » Sat Feb 18, 2006 12:55 pm

An expansion on what was mentioned in the Regional Forum 3 days ago, this media realease today from South:

The South Adelaide Football Club is very pleased to announce that local
coaching legend, Trevor Potts, has signed with the Panthers to coach the
Reserves and be a senior assistant to League coach Robert Pyman.

Trevor Potts has been involved in coaching over 5 decades. During that
time he has coached juniors, senior sides at the local level and at the
West Adelaide Football Club at the U19 and Reserves level. Trevor has
coached 11 senior premierships during his coaching career and has just
coached the Morphett Vale FC to 2 premierships in a row. Over the last
month Trevor has presented at the AFL National Coaching Conference at
the Telstra Dome and at the SANFL Level 2 Coaching Conference about the
art of coaching at the Community Level.

Trevor has been a teacher for 40 years and recently retired from the
Principal's position at Brighton Secondary School. Trevor is also a
level 2 coach.

"I am excited about my new role at the South Adelaide FC and am looking
forward to the challenge of working with an experienced coach such as
Robert Pyman and developing the young players in the club." Said Potts

Robert Pyman said "Trevor's signing is further proof that South Adelaide
is providing pathways for players, administrators and coaches from its
local area. I am very pleased to have Trevor on board, his work with
young developing players in the local leagues has been exceptional and
has a record that is second to none."

The Panthers have worked hard over the pre-season period to invite a
huge number of its local players out to train with the league squad. The
panthers had the youngest list in the SANFL in 2005 and this year will
be by far the youngest and most inexperienced in the competition, but
sees this as an exciting prospect with a lot of players around the same
age emerging together. With Potts's signing that now finalizes the
coaching team, (Robert Pyman, Gary Cameron, Trevor Potts).

South's senior squad has about 40% in the list that will be eligible to play underage footy this year.
