The bye is a fact of life and has been with us since 1991. I'm more annoyed by how many Sunday games we play this year. I'd rather play all Saturdays as a preference and the odd Friday night game early in the season before the cold really sets in.

If you speak to players they actually like the weeks off during the season to recharge the batteries etc and personally speaking North are looking fwd to their bye break in two weeks as we have a few blokes running on near empty with niggling injuries. From a fans point of view the bye helps with doing other things and it also helps clubs re prgramming their major fundraising functions on a bye weekend without having to try and squeeze in football as well.

You Eagles fans wouldn't be complaining if your got started a bit earlier in the year instead of waiting for the last two rounds to get going and blaming the bye for a possible loss of momentum! I would have thought with your large injury list it would be a blessing?

It's a valid topic though, BP. And EHL hasn't so much complained about the bye as question whether it will stop our momentum. Only need to look at what happened last time we had the bye and what has happened to Norwood since they had the bye to realise the bye can have an influence on the momentum of a season.

My thoughts are that regardless of the bye if you're good enough, you'll win. But, there has been plenty of talk in the past and will be plenty of talk in the future regarding what effects the bye has on a team's season.

At the end of the day, there are 9 teams. Someone has to have a bye each week. Thats all there is to it.

But they should be spaced out during the year, not have 2 within say 5 weeks, have one every 9 weeks or so.

I think what is really wrong is that the Eagles have two byes in a row - they had a bye last week (after all, isn't that what playing West is?) and have one this coming week too.

Again, it comes down to one thing - the mind.

The dogs have the bye 2 rounds in a row as well.

The only bad time to have a bye is when you think it's bad. Good teams win regardless of when the bye falls. Poor teams worry about whether it's a good thing or not.
