2007 Crowds

Postby Dutchy » Mon Jul 16, 2007 10:29 am

Some good solid crowds again on the weekend, while we havent had the bumper once off crowds as much this season I feel that there has been more consistency with the crowds over 2000, spelly can we have a breakdown of the crowds this year please?

even this round with West and South both playing there were no crowds under 2000.

Obviously Sturts form has a lot to do with it along with Glenelgs continued success with Sunday games. North Port and Dogs all solid again.

Maybe fans also like the fact Adelaide Oval hasnt been available?

Thanks Phil,

so from my calculations we are 8500 up on last year so far, excellent result considering how wet this winter has been compared to last years drought....I genuinely think there is a real push back to SANFL footy which is great, some good programming and good advertising has helped

3000+ average is fantastic. Some NRL games would be happy with some of our crowd figures this year (ie. Sturt v Norwood)...

I think it goes to show that there are a lot of people who are fed up with the AFL. I used to be a regular at Crows games but two years ago handed in my Footy Park membership and now only go to the local fixtures.

AFL simply doesn't have the atmosphere that a local game has. I'd rather be at a game where there are 1500 Sturt supporters and 1500 Eagles supporters barracking against each other than a Crows game where there are 40,000 all cheering for the same team...

Geez . Id like to see 1500 Eagle supporters rock up to a minor round game for starters.

Sorry CC I doubt an extra 140 supporters per game is hard evidence of a protest vote against the AFL. I'd guess it's the points Dutchy mentioned - Sturt's improvement, programming, promotion, etc. Fairly safe to say that someone snapped up your Crows ticket pretty quick!

For a lot of people it isn't one or the other - SANFL v AFL. I know a few passionate Crows and Power men getting drawn back to the SANFL - but not at the expense of the AFL.

Great figures for the SANFL, well done so far.
