Rd 16 Norwood v South

Postby MightyEagles » Sun Jul 15, 2007 6:04 pm

Can South come back from the drumming that they were given yesterday? Or can Norwood win after just going down to Glenelg?

early thoughts on this game would be norwood should win, south are a rabble and it would take a big effort from them to turn around an absolutely smashing from yesterday.

i saw both games over the weekend & norwood will win by at least 5 goals

south = an absolute rabble
norwood = a team having a crack
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

We should win, but at this stage I'm not overly confident about any game.

I am still in complete shock of what happened against Sturt. The only thing is that it was not quite as bad as Norwood produced 2 weeks ago. Both undiciplined sides. Anything could happen.

If South don't show some fight this week against Norwood, I wouldn't blame their supporters for deserting them... I can put up with thrashings as long as you're outskilled. There's no excuse for lack of effort. I think the fact South had only one player named in their best (The Advertiser) speaks volumes.

With some smart recruiting South could put themselves back in contention next year. The core of their side isn't that bad. A key forward would be handy...

Only game on Sat arvo: a pretty sure way to be televised!

south on tv everytime they have been this year
they have not played well.

'Every time' Norwood has been on TV this year is a short, recent and miserable list:
v Centrals: 130-year record 158 point loss
v North: 25 point loss.

One team's due to break its TV winning drought.

South have had a few credible games on TV- the Draw against North, and the win against westies. 2 or 3 absolute beltings though.

Our record out at Nwd hasnt been too bad the last 4 or 5 years, but really that counts for nothing.

Disappointing to lose Smithy. Not the most polished footballer going around, but committment cant be questioned.

Smithy aint real smart though. How many times on Saturday at centre bounces did he just run in to the centre chasing the footy. Sturt would predictably win possession and pop it straight over Smithy's head to his direct opponent who was still waiting on the wing to have an uncontested foray forward.

When the opposition kicks two or three in succession you need to abandon your own attacking style for a bit and quell the flow. It's called tightening up, or being accountable. We have been pathetic in this area for the last 5 years. The coach needs to send out the message, man on man time for the rest of the quarter. We're going defensive.

Either this message isn't being sent, or the players refuse to listen...

On TV.

So will it be a sequel to last week. "THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW 2 "????
I hope not!!!
It just gets so embarrassing to watch us get hammered on TV.
Does the club no favours. Especially when you see certain players really showing no interest in being on the ground at all.
I think the selection committee need to make a stand - drop the high paid AFL/VFL recruits and get some of the young kids in the ressies a chance. Get them involved in league footy this year as I would hate to see some of them leave to other clubs due to not getting opportunties at South Adelaide.
TIME TO MAKE A STAND!!!
