What about Scott "The Agitator" Lee? He is a pretty straight-up, no bullshit sort of bloke that has had a pretty good upbringing. Has the recent Bulldog mentality built into him.

GOLD!!!

I like to see a Phil Carman type there!!
Take no S**t attitude.

Sounds to me that the current playing group would not take kindly to a Carman type. It appears they want a coach who allows them to do things their way. What a joke the South management team are. Supporting your coach publicly one day - sacking him the next. I've been saying on this site that South supporters should hang in there as you'll turn the corner eventually. I'd like to readjust my time frame by 10 years...

Must be a lot of joke clubs out there because this is becoming the norm. I reckon Sportsbet would immediately shorten their odds on a coach's future as soon as the board declares their support......
Hi, My name is Ron 'Bluey' Dunn. Did you know I played in the 61 & 62 Tasman Premiership sides....

Pretty sad isn't it... Personaly I couldn't look myself in the mirror if I had done what they have. Wouldn't have bothered me if the club president hadn't made his comments. Oh well, let's see what they do on field next season...(I predict they will fail to play finals yet again)...

Settle down on the Carman talk people, my brother in law played under him at Sturt and the general consensus was that whilst he galvinised the group and the players genuinly liked him his actual coaching ability and technical know how was a joke.

I don't think anybody could dispute the first half of your Carman concensus. I don't know about the second part, but if that is true, he just needs a tactician to advise him. I reckon half the problem with SANFL sides these days is respect for the coach. Carman would have no problems with that IMO.

I know its a long way off but I wonder if North don't make the GF and Jarman doesn't get a new contract if we'd consider Pyman?

Pyman is no personality arrogant tool and he would be the last person North would or should entertain to coach them. I would spew if his name was ever linked to North!

Problems arise at clubs when coaches want to win games and be successful, and the players want to muck around with a footy a bit and get paid for it, and be free to booze and otherwise go feral as much as they like. It causes conflict.

Part of the problem is that not many talented sportsmen who are not into booze and partying seem to choose footy as their sport. Peter Oatey quit for Tennis, John Lill played CHF for Norwood but preferred Cricket and moved into MCG administration, and my two closest friends at Woodville high are now Professors of Mathematics, and both chose Cricket and Hockey. I admit I don't know enough footy players personally to be sure how accurate my impression above is - my seem is based on a limited sample.

The exception I can think of would be Tony Clarkson, who rucked for Sturt while becoming Medical Director of the Renal Transplant unit of the QEH, and who from my brief acquaintance with him was never feral.

Perhaps there are others like Tony, Peter, and John, who played football without being into drunken loutery - maybe we should start a short thread to identify them?

Would Bob Oatey make the list?

Southee,

You can relax man !! The big bad Pyes is gone and we don't care where he goes now .

The issue for us is who do WE get now !

God help us if Rehn or the Weed surface.

Lets hope that the board is able to select a Guy who will make sure we impact on 2008.

If not we will remain the easybeats of 2008.

May the force be with you !!!

What do you think of Darcy ??
