Name yer clubs' #1 ticket holder

Postby Pseudo » Fri Mar 03, 2006 10:14 am

Goodpeople,

Wedgie asked "can anyone explain to me what a #1 ticket holder actually is?" on another thread, These days the GFC obviously sees the position as something of a sinecure: a glorified position with little direct responsibility, used largely to increase the profile of the club. Not unlike being chancellor of a university. Stephen Kernahan has a high profile, at least among the Glenelg fans and the wider SANFL community. Gary Sweet had some profile in the greater community. However this hasn't always been the case. IIRC The #1 ticket holder back in the most recent premiership years was a bloke called Norm Ahrendt. I have no idea what his claim to fame was, or how hw came to fill the position.

So, to get a better idea of why someone would be granted the #1 ticket, can y'all tell me who are the #1 ticket holders at theother 8 clubs, and how/why these people came to hold that honour?

At the Eagles, I believe that it's either Bob Hank or Lindsay Head, I can't remember which. The Patron of the club is the Mayor of Charles Sturt Council.

Our number one ticket holder at Sturt is Peter Motley.
I believe our patron is Len Fitzgerald.

South Adelaide's No.1 ticket holder is Mr Alan Hickinbotham. Alan is a former state player, sanfl administrator, served in many roles at the club and is the founder of Hickinbotham Homes. He was instrumental in saving the club when all seemed lost in 1990.

He would proberly name five retired players or ex and current AFL players ie Tony Modra, Shaun Rehn, Luke Jericho, Mark Micken and Doug Thomas. :P What did we do wrong for him to be our number one ticket holder i am sorry but i feel coorong would be a great number one ticket holder or even Blacky himself.
