PORT ADELAIDE MAGPIES’ XAVIER WATSON WINS ROUND 21 COCA-COLA STAR SEARCH AWARD NOMINATION
Xavier Watson from the Port Adelaide Magpies Football Club has been named the Round Twenty One Coca-Cola Star Search Award nominee.
After starting on the bench, 19 year old Watson made an instant impression when he came on during the first quarter of Saturday’s blockbuster clash with traditional rivals Norwood. Xavier’s outstanding debut League match contributed to the Magpies’ 11 point victory over the Redlegs at Alberton Oval.
Despite playing a tagging role, Watson accumulated 16 possessions of his own, including 8 kicks, 8 handballs, 2 marks and 3 tackles.
Xavier, originally from Tooligee on the Eyre Peninsula, has progressed through the Magpies Under 17’s, Under 19’s and Reserves after being recruited from the United Yeelanna Football Club, part of the Great Flinders Football League.
Watson is the Port Adelaide Magpies’ fourth Coca-Cola Star Search Award nominee this season following Steven Summerton in Round 1, Levi Greenwood in Round 5 and Bradley Ebert in Round 8.
