I agree, 5AA rarely broadcast SANFL football and the sports show has less and less SANFL content each year.

This is said out of anger and perhaps isnt the best idea, yet I do feel like it might be better if 5AA were told that only the radio stations that have supported and broadcasted the SANFL minor round games get to broadcast the SANFL Grand Final and as 5AA do with 3AW, they can rebroadcast the 5RPH / LifeFM coverage.

According to Phil H they haven't done one this year !! I agree make them relay the stations that support weekly broadcastings of SANFL.

No, that would mean they would miss out on their yearly Media Award then! ;)

There are two things the WAFL have over the SANFL - the Radio coverage and the website. Surely it would not be too hard for 5AA to cover a game or two? Might be asking for too much, but even last year they did a couple of matches.

In 2005 fiveaa did 6 minor round games (2 AFL Free weekend, 1 Adelaide Cup & 3 Friday Night)
In 2006 fiveaa did 5 minor round games (2 AFL Free weekend & 3 Friday Night) (Adelaide Cup moved to March)

In 2007
- part of new AFL licence agreement meant they had to broadcast all AFL Friday Night games
- they had 2 AFL free time slots mid season to show they had a commitment to the SANFL
- they chose instead to take the Sports Today program from Melbourne instead
- they booked in to do South v North on Sunday June 24 but cancelled one week out.

No doubt they will again get to do the grand final parade in the mall

At least with this week's Westies v North game there's the NAFC.com.au live scoreboard, I usually post some comments on the Roost like ressies scores, goalscorers, etc using my phone.

Thanks Wedgie. Will be waiting with baited breath this week. 2nd time in 3 weeks no radio No coverage for the Eagles game and now Westies.
Will still be on-line so any news is gratefully received.

NB - Allocation for Rd 23 to be finalised

From round 1-22 (86 games)
- 64 (75%) were on radio (42 RPH, 22 Life FM, 0 fiveaa)
- 23 have been on TV

Broken Up Further
- 51 - Radio only
- 13 - TV and Radio
- 10 - TV no radio
- 12 - No Radio or TV

On Radio &/or TV in 2007 (Out of 19 games each except 20 for Central)
- 18 times - Norwood, Port, Central, South
- 17 times - Eagles
- 16 times - Glenelg
- 15 times - North & Sturt
- 14 times - West

On Radio in 2007 (Out of 19 games, each except 20 for Central)
- 16 times - Port & Norwood
- 15 times - South & Central
- 14 times - Eagles & Glenelg
- 13 times - Sturt & North
- 12 times - West

Of the 12 games not on either radio or TV
- 5 could only be covered with a 3rd radio station involved
- 5 could have been covered if RPH &/or LifeFM had picked up an extra game
- 2 could have been covered if radio was allocated the non broadcast game instead of ABC TV game.

Cheers
Phil
Thanks Phil - I appreciate the effort to provide the info.

Not sure what it tells me though, it doesn't appear too out of whack, when looked at in totality. Except perhaps you are utilising your influence in the media to get South on the TV and/or radio more than their performances would warrant.

Stay tuned to the Roost too mate, I'll do what I did last Westies game and give the ressies result and goal kickers, etc.

If we were able to get a third radio station involved I think that would pretty much solve the problem, yet which of the current listing would have the resources to put it together? Of the commercial ones, Cruise 1323 might be one to consider, of the community ones maybe 5EBI?

729 ABC Radio National - ABC
891 ABC Adelaide - ABC
972 NewsRadio - ABC
1197 RPH Adelaide - Radio for Print Handicapped
1323 Cruise 1323 - ARN
1395 FIVEaa - DMG
1539 Radio TAB (Betting / Racing)
1611 khz 5YL (Launch March 2007)

88.7 5CST - Coast FM
89.1 Triple B FM
89.7 PBA-FM
91.9 Nova 91.9 - DMG
92.7 Fresh FM - Dance Top 40
93.7 Three D Radio
99.9 5MBS - Music Broadcasting Society of SA
100.3 Power FM (Adelaide)
100.5 WOW FM - University of Adelaide
101.5 Radio Adelaide - Radio Adelaide
102.3 MIX 102.3 FM - ARN
103.1 5EBI
103.9 ABC Classic FM
104.7 MHz Triple M FM - Austereo
105.5 MHz Triple J - ABC (Also at 95.9)
106.3 MHz SBS Radio
107.1 MHz SAFM - Austereo
107.9 MHz Life FM

Influence?

I think Souths extra coverage is mainly due to playing Sunday home games when there are rarely more than 2 played so its easier to get radio.
also
TV coverage tends to work in a bit of a lag and some of their earlier appearances were probably due to their performance late las year and the attacking, high scoring brand of football played at this time.

Personally (note personally), the less South games LifeFM do the better as I won't put myself in the position of calling a Panthers game on radio. Commentating does not allow the time for second guessing which is what I would be doing if everything I was saying was going by the little voice in my head asking "would I get in trouble for that."

Sarcasm Phil! I would never call your integrity into question, just couldn't see any reasons myself - you have explained it quite well.

No offence taken SMAC
I just thought it funny as over the last four years my "influence" has often been portrayed on this site as being
stronger than it actually is in reality.
