The top 5 vs the top 5 in 2007

With finals fast approaching and the top five already decided, I thought it would be interesting to see how the finalists have faced off against each other so far this year. This might also help predict how the season will end up with some of these teams playing each other over the next couple of rounds.

Current Form: How the top 5 teams fared lat time they played each other:
Central 111 def Sturt 83
Central 85 def Eagles 75
Central 89 def Glenelg 73
North 90 def Central 55
Sturt 106 def North 79
Glenelg 137 def North 102
Glenelg 141 def Sturt 104
Eagles 96 def North 93
Eagles 98 def Sturt 83
Eagles 114 def Glenelg 93

TABLE (Top 5's Current Form Against Top 5 Teams)
Team....W L F....A....%
Central..3 1 340 321 56.44
Eagles ..3 1 383 354 51.96
Glenelg .2 2 444 409 52.05
North ...1 3 364 394 48.02
Sturt ...1 3 376 429 46.71

Overall Form: Other results of games involving only the top 5 teams:
Central 100 def Eagles 49
Central 103 def North 68
Central 106 def North 64
Central 102 def Glenelg 79
Central 151 def Eagles 69
Sturt 109 def Central 102
Sturt 110 def Glenelg 84
North 110 def Eagles 82
North 100 def Sturt 54
Eagles 100 def Sturt 76
Eagles 105 def Glenelg 76
Glenelg 133 def North 85

*Edit: From here on everything has been added on after "business" was attended to:
TABLE TOP 5 vs TOP 5
Team.......P..W L....F.....A....%
Central ..10...8 2 1004 759 56.95
Eagles.....9...5 4..788..867 47.62
Glenelg....8...3 5..816..811 50.15
North......9...3 6..791..872 47.56
Sturt......8...3 5..725..815 47.08

Interesting to note how my own team, Sturt, has struggled against its fellow finals contenders. This strongly suggests that we have taken our chances as we should, but are often stretched against worthier opponents. Probably why many have tipped Sturt not to win another game for the year now that we will be facing only top 5 sides from here on.
North is in a very similar boat to Sturt, and the above could apply to them equally.
Glenelg, going on the above form, could well finish the season in third place. What is more striking is that if you deduct the most recent results from the overall table, Glenelg once had a 1-3 win/loss record against fellow finalists for 2007, so they have definitely strengthened that return leading into the crunch time of the season.
Eagles are also storming home against the other top placed sides, with only Central alluding them of late.
What more needs to be said about Central? No matter how you cut it, they come out on top.

I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail
