Clarke to Glenelg

All discussions to do with the SANFL

We all know that his around the ground stuff is shite. Its a well known fact. But when he is on song he does give your onballers first use out of the middle. Which is handy but without the extra bit hes not a top class ruckman

Well if Clarkey wishes to go and better himself(?)and get a league game at the bays then he certainly goes with my blessing. While some of his efforts toward the end of his stay with us last year were noteworthy, earlier when he was returning from injury he was absolutely appalling. This included a stint in the reserves. If someone had suggested that he was a seasoned Afl player you would have questoned their sanity.
One can only hope he performs at glenelg in a similar way to others who have transferred from South to the Bays over the years  .

i wouldn't get him

Postby bayman » Wed Feb 01, 2006 5:49 pm

i wouldn't get him at all lets face it if he was 5ft 8" he'd be lucky to get a game in div6 in the amatuers with his skill level, sure he can tap the ball but after a tap he's useless, cant mark with his hands as all good/great ruckman can, kicking is ordinary, no not for me but with hudson out we wont see him anyway although having said that if maric continues to improve i suppose we may see him i hope not, his asset would be teaching 'our' ruckman on the training track. if it was me recruiting a ruckman from south it'd be parry as he can do more yes he can ruck but also can be played up forward or in defence
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Bayman , there is no doubt that any sane supporter would take Parry or a dozen other SANFL ruckman in front of Clarke but they are not available. I believe that the Crows will back one of their young ruckmen and only play Clarke if Biglands is injured.

The question is will we take Clarke for the money be asked?

What young ruckman?,Hudson is injured,so Clarke will have to back up Biglands.Meeson and Maric aren't ready one would think.

That's interesting BOB, as a guy who I work with, who is heavily involved with SMOSH/West Lakes, thinks he is still turning out for them this year. Not saying you are wrong but my mate is in for a rude shock in the upcoming weeks if this is the case.
(Getting off topic, I know) Bad move by Hahndorf if this is the case. Perhaps Dennis is starting to fret over the security of his coaching position.

Even though Clarke mainly played Bs for South last year, he did pretty well for the Crows and was great in that Showdown Final flogging. Waste of time by Glenelg to recruit him as he wont play many games for them this year, he will be more useful than Lucas Herbert though.

I think if the crows go well all bays supporters wont see The doc - but if the crows go not so well you might see him in the black and the gold. His work ethis is fantastic and that might just rub off on some guys. if we didnt have any ruck men I know that he would give our ball magnets the first bite of the cherry.

Go you Blues

Bays can't even get him for a trial at the minute and doesn't look like they'll see much at all of him in 2006 but I was interested to read that he's considering playing on with the Bays after his AFL career is finished.

Pot, Kettle,black.

Also, it's common knowledge that your beloved club tried hard to get him last season, but because the i's werent dotted before 30 June the deal could not be struck.
