That's OK with us, Daniel Wakelin's not exactly a rover around the ground.
If our rovers get 20 more hits direct to their chest than they'd previously get it could result in many more goals.
Give me a ruckman that gets over 30 hitouts (and straight to the chest of the little blokes too, not just in the general direction) than a bloke who gets 10 with a couple of marks and a couple of kicks, doesn't take a mathetmatician of the game to work out who the more effective is.
That's not even taking into account that I thought O'Hara did quite a good job around the ground on Friday night, always popped up near the ball and reads the play beautifully.
Huddo was great around the ground when playing for us but I'd prefer O'Hara. The premiere tap ruckman in the SANFL IMHO and comfortably at that, could never understand when Lindsay started in front of him, Eagles seemed to win 90% of the games when O'Hara started.

I don't anyone (well with half a brain) would underestimate O'Hara's worth, that's why the Eagles sure as hell didn't want him going.

seems in the third quarter south went really well with a lot of the younger blokes on the ground, perhaps eag's rested a few after half time as did south. There were some good signs there but still a lot of improving to do, had south kicked straigh it might have been a bit closer.

First choice (or thereabouts) players missing from the Eagles:

Colville
Lindsay
Pedlar
Passador
Hall
Powell
Fiacchi, R
Simmons
Lomas
Cooper
Bolton, J
Wigley
Frewen
Potter
Vince (alomost certain to return from Crows when real stuff starts)

Draw your own conclusions about the result.

Competition for spots at the Eagles is sure to be intense.

Sorry I dont know enough about South's players to comment on their ommissions.

Cooper, Passador & Wigley did more running as water boys than they'd do in a game or thats what they told me after the game.

All 3 expected back this week.

No doubt Ohara is a valuable player however for a team that lacks height in the forward line the better option for the Eagles is a ruckman that can change in the forward pocket - Dabrowski and Lindsay can provide this - Ohara couldn't - therefore it is win - win for both Eagles and North.

Very true as long as Lindsay can kick goals in the square this year !!
They did have lindsay in the forward line most weeks .

O'Hara is a massive loss to the Eags IMO. Even more of a loss considering he has gone to a club who we'll be battling with for a top 3 spot.

Good to see the Eags do well in the trial and the recruits do well. Hopefully all cylinders will be firing at Prospect in round one.

Sus - you can also add to the "gone missing list" Brad Williams a good tough player but always injured and the 6'5" James Angus a young promising backman that seems to be a regular on the injured list.

Just like to mention some promising players that performed in the league and reserves.

Kim Hart - reserves - ran all day and found plenty of the ball, don't know where he is from.
Josh Ransom - reserves - small blonde left footed rover from Mt Gambier, was a real little dynamo when he came on.
Damien Williamson - reserves & league - played only one U17 game in 2005, moved well and looked like he could develop into a decent player.
Brendan Papps - reserves & league - played only one U17 game in 2005, injured his shoulder in his first game in 2005, like Williamson moved very well, found the ball and didn't panic.
Todd Price - Paskeville, hasn't played for the club before but still eligible for U19s, played a small portion of the reserves game and when brought on in the league game was very skilful in slotting three goals a very promising player.
Chris Stacey a 23 yo from Jamestown who played for Freeling in 2005. About 6'2" gangly left footer. Started the league game in the back pocket matching up with medium to tall players. Composure was very good, his left foot kicks hit the target every time and was very safe overhead. Maybe the taller mobile backman we need. An excellent first up game.

Special mention to the Eagles two reserves ruckmen, they battled all day, never gave in and although they are quite raw showed potential that should be perservered with.

Thought that Jon Floreani and Leigh Treeby should have been included in the best player list.

we are lucky enough to have a few other big blokes around the ground now, in defence and up forward, so we dont need a ruckman like O`Hara taking marks and kicking goals
we have some good smalls so as long as O`Hara gets his taps right ill be happy
