Although they probably did enough to earn the win, the Bays were helped by 2 or 3 fortunate decisions in the last quarter.

They are somehow top of the ladder after 9 rounds without a having a recognised ruckman.

It’s where & when you get them, North had 2 good 10 minute periods at the start of the game & the start of the 3rd. Glenelg controlled the rest of the game. Top of the table with our best ruckman, best defender & best forward out - still work to do, take that.

spot on, we have won the hard way the last few weeks, and with the outs we have will take 7-2 at the halfway mark of the season,
the chooks threw everything at us yet we still prevailed

Several were "last touched" out of bounds, and I remember one was for throwing the ball at an opponent after the ball was out of bounds.

And there was a “blue mooner” not paid today in the 2nd quarter

North player kicked the ball after the boundary umpire had signalled the ball out of bounds - which is a free kick. One of our rescue did it too in the last and it wasn’t paid.

Would’ve given us a shot on goal.

Take the win given the duress some of our players are playing under and our outs.

7-2, we’ll take that.

Possibly the best contest I've seen all year, in terms of both teams playing with high intensity, average-to-good skills, and having a red hot crack all day.

Rooster #23's goal was a corker; brought memories of David Mitchell to mind.

The umpiring was uneven but I reckon Glenelg did have the best of it.

Still some work to be done. The Bays' delivery to the forwards still needs some polish and there was some poor decision making going forwards.

Pretty happy to be sitting top of the ladder at the halfway mark of the season. We've had some of our best players out for a bunch of games and it feels like we are still stuck in second gear atm, our skills, goal kicking and decision making can improve dramatically from here. I hope we're not setting ourselves up for a 2021 type of season but we've still got plenty of time to find the right mix. The midfield is still a worry to me but we are in pretty good shape to challenge again all things considering. There really isn't much of a talent advantage by any of the top 6 or 7 sides this season IMHO, a good sign for the league going forward.

I'm seeing some parallels between this year and 1986

Lost a couple of players to Victoria (Pink/Newman this year), started the year slow - in 86 we were 3-5 at the beginning of June and a 2nd year coach :D

Had a good ( 8) ) 2nd half of the season in 1986.

Still a long way to go, the reality is right now we are only a game and %age ahead of Centrals in 5th and this time next week, the Eagles will be top.

Pretty sure the Bays were 2-5 and out of the 5, then hardly losing for the rest of the year.

Currently 7-2 and top.

C’mon, it was nearly 40 years ago … I usually can’t remember what I did 5 mins ago.

I had another stab before your reply, so close enough. :D

Was a very decent effort from North (who are missing 5 key players), apart from the second quarter.

Some holding the ball decisions were confusing, with many not paid that should have (was like a wet weather game when the umps seem to stop paying it).

Good crowd for the day! My kids loved the new playground (maybe all grounds should join Richmond, Unley, Noarlunga & Glenelg in having one).
