Obviously it was only a trial, but I was very pleased with the way North moved the ball and some of the new recruits. van Wyk looks to be a very competitive ruckman, He is a huge man, something North haven't had for years. If he continues that form once the season starts, it will allow Harvey to play up forward where he belongs. Schumacher looked very good, Maher and Faulkhead caught the eye and three of last year's recruits in Raak, Mackinlay and Ramsay showed great form. It was also excellent to see van Huisstede back after his serious illness. He was very steady in defence and should shore up one of the key defensive posts.

I didn't know many of the West players and I don't know how many senior players didn't play but their best players were defenders which is obvious looking at the scoreboard.

That's a valid point about vanWyk releasing Harvey to play up fwd. Whenever he is playing as a fwd he is a beast. Old style FF.
Dogs were also chasing vanWyk, great pickup.

Both us & Norwood had some good players out,
Dont know who will come back in for Glenelg trial .

I reckon the middle of Elizabeth Oval is always a good couple of degrees warmer, That, coupled with the distance the water carriers have to run make for very uncomfortable trial games

A few years ago, the league had games on extreme temperature days where there was a break half way between each quarter. Can't remember if the games were trial or premiership point games.

Has a back injury, should be available for round one.
Dittmars concussion protocols will finish the day before round one.
Surman in the same boat having also suffered concussion.

The Nwd player (?) who dumped Dittmar has been handed a 3 game suspension.

Big ups to Mihail Lochowiak who is returning to the field for his first game in 22 months after 2 knee recons.

The Nwd player (?) also got the free kick.. again displaying the fine line between perfect tackle in the umps eyes and heinous crime in the eyes of the tribunal
