Sturt and Norwood Pokie Parlours Progress?

Postby Wedgie » Fri Jun 09, 2006 12:38 pm

Anyone got any further info on how these premises are developing?

I drive down Unley Rd most mornings and the Sturt venture seems to be progressing very slowly, at most there's 1 person there but the building looks very run down and not much seems to be happening from the outside, I know the original date I heard that this would kick off was this month (June) - see the article from Sturts official site that I'll past at the bottom of this post, but its obvious that that's not going to happen, mind you I can't see most of the inside driving past but it doesn't seem to have much happening in there.

I think the last I read on the Sturt forum was that the Castle Plaza wasn't going to bring any income (if any) in until later this year.

In regard to the Norwood venture the last on the Norwood forum was that the application for the gaming licence is set down for a hearing on 18,19 and 20th July 2006 so I'm assuming noone's heard anything more there?

Be interested if anyone would have any updated info on either venture if there is any?

Our exciting new venue on Unley Road is progressing well and the project is running on time and on budget. We expect to open the doors at the end of June 2006.

The inside of the building is really starting to take shape and all contractors working closely with Project Manager Geoff Redin to ensure timely completion of their tasks.

Selections of floor covering, furniture have been made, landscaping has commenced in the courtyard, painting both inside and out has commenced.

We are currently going through the process of employee a Club Manager, we expect to have one on Board and working on the start up tasks by the end of May 2006.

Thanks again to the following for their support during the project:

Cheers CA, I suppose the only good news there is that 3 or 4 days have been set aside for it as quite often in the past with these sort of hearings an issue will arise or time will run out and it'll be put back another 6 months.

Good luck to both clubs in their ventures, I hope all clubs will be on a similar playing field financially in the not too far future.

Yeah I agree, its good the tribunal has set aside the time to finnally put an end to it, at least until the next appeal, time will tell. I've thought we were close a number of times and it just hasn't happened.

A few weeks ago there were Sturt people selling raffle tickets to win a car, I had a quick chat to them and they said Sturt were having their community club knocked down and needed $80000 by the end of the year to build a new one. Im not sure if that maybe the the building you are talking about Wedgie?

Nah, the old post office on Unley Rd is where Sturt are moving their pokies. Im not sure what's going on at the community club, I just know they shut down business a couple of months back there as it was losing money.
