Around the time he was last playing at North, a "player" who was organising the end of the season players trip used the money collected (approx $15K) for his own purposes - mostly at the racetrack. This player was put before his peers and they voted him out so jhe was sacked from the club. No Police or formal action was taken because an undertaking was agreed that the money be paid back via a loan from his new club who in turn recouped the money via match payments as a loan payback.

Now you can guess which player I'm talking about?

OK, here's the full story and its 100% true, I'll swear on anything.

In 1991 I purchased a red and white bomber jacket (you know the one's, they have leather sleeves), the club informed me it was in as they were available by pre-order only as they were quite pricey at that time, I went to pick it up at the club and they had to apologise profusely to me as a player had snaffled it, I found out later it was Brodie.
It all ended good, the club got another one in and I still occasionally wear my red and white bomber jacket and the many North supporters who purchased the unlimited cheaper maroon and white bomber jackets since then are still jealous.

There may be other stories about Brodie but I can vouch 100% for this one.

I always suspected it was personal. ;)

You only had to stand within earshot (ie, the same suburb) as the NA Grog Squad to know.
