i understand both points of view but as a bayman i want him right for saturday

i went to Adelaide High wasnt aloud to play for Norwood juniors unless i played for my school AND ADELAIDE HIGH IS A PUBLIC SCHOOL

Playing for ur school is something all players cherish these guys wanted to play let them.

This was the mid 60's admittedly but Peter Anderson went to Adelaide Boys High and was stripped off his prefect status when he chose to play for North Adelaide over the school team.
I use to go to school with Steven Trigg and he played league football with Central before the "school football season" started. When the school games started he played for the school - no arguements, no dramas.

LL, didn't Trigg attend St.Peters College? I never knew you were a toff :) Only joking.

You're right about Anderson losing his prefect status because he wouldn't play for the school. I was a prefect at Adelaide Boys High and was probably lucky to retain my prefect status as I refused to play footy for the school as well, but I wasn't of the profile Anderson was. My stance was if I was injured playing for the school team I couldn't benefit from the medical assistance as was provided by league clubs, or clubs in general. This is something Gibbs should possibly consider.

We had several players at our school at the time whose league careers were delayed due to playing for the school. However, there was one player a year ahead of me named Dexter Kennedy who was released by Adelaide Boys High to play his 1st league game for West Adelaide at 15 years of age. The reason? ..... he wasn't considered at the time to be good enough to play in the 1st XVIII for Adelaide High :)

Yeah. I speak good and that. :P The first 18 that Trigg played in also boasted having Tim Paech in the side (who went onto to play some good footy with Sturt in the early to mid 80's). The funny thing is that - whilst playing good footy obviously - neither of them really stood out in that team, and you get the feeling that many of the other guys in that side would have gone onto play league if they hadn't discovered cars, booze and girls (not necessarily in that order).

So now we know what happened to Leaping Lindner :) If Tim Paech was in the team, I would think Rick Neagle would have been also? The Saints star we played against (and I had to stand him for some reason) was Stephen Copping. The good thing about standing a player like that was he took me to where the ball was, so it made my stats look better.

Let the boys play 2 quarters of football (under Mickans orders) as playing with their friends from school is far more important. Remember these boys probally will be in Melbourne next year missing out of all their mates 18th bdays.
