SANFL Coverage earns 5RPH National Sports Media Award

Earlier tonight in Canberra at the 2005 Australian Sports Commission Media Awards, SA's only finalist, 1197am RPH Adelaide won the Australia Wide category for BEST COMMITMENT TO THE COVERAGE OF SPORT for their local football coverage in 2005.

Collecting the award on behalf of the station commentators Darryl Smith & Phil Herden paid tribute to the team of up to 20 weekly contributors, most of whom are volunteers, thanked their sponsors and listeners and finally paid tribute to the SANFL.

"There is no doubt in our eyes" Herden said " that by any measurement of media coverage or public support that the SANFL is the #1 State Sporting League in all of Australia"

"5RPH has loved calling the SANFL for the past 15 years and look forward to doing it for many seasons to come"

The award concludes a huge year for the 5RPH team where they also collected 2 SANFL Media Awards, one for best Radio Interview the other for Significant Contribution.
