Going by the footysa.com ladder calculator, it's a must win next week at Noarlunga or we're stuffed.
As suggested though, could be some more surprises in store.

don't forget the legs have a Bye in the last round. Could be very interesting if we can burn u next week. :)

Well done to South. Well and truly the better side on the day. Played probably even above their potential, Eagles were well below par all day with the exception of about 5 minutes in the last quarter where I was getting preety excited, thought we might have half a chance when we kicked those 4 in a row. On a side note I must say that the umpiring today was absolutely disgraceful and would have to rate as one of the most one sided umpiring displays I probably have ever seen. That being said it was not the reason we lost. Watch out Roosters next week - the big Woodville heritage day at Oval Ave and I gurantee we won't play that bad two weeks in a row. Today was just a minor glitch and the reality check we had to have before finals. Early prediction is an Eagles win next week and a return to top spot with the favouritism of minor premier to return.

The umpiring was fine for the first half, I only saw one dodgy decision which was in favour of the Eagles, unless things changed dramatically in the 2nd half I think you're clutching at straws.

If that was the worst youd seen then you either dont go to many matches or the Eagles have had an absolute dream run.

Its amazing how South has gone from having the smallest home ground advantage in the league to the largest in the space of about 2 months. Their efforts at Noarlunga last year were very ordinary, but given some of the thrashings they've handed out in their last 4/5 games at home, they've well and truly turned that around!!

I know what you mean by this but didn't Sturt lose the last minor round game of 2002?

Port lost in Round 21 of 1999 but still won the flag?

Port also lost a couple in Rounds 20 and 21 1998 and yet won the flag?

What this means is that losing a match late in the season does not mean you cannot win the flag (or in your terms, choke)

And you think Centrals are now winning when it counts. Against who? South in their form slump and Sturt. The next three rounds will show you where the top 7 clubs are at.

Wedgie I was there all day and haven't missed an Eags in 3 years. I just thought the umpiring was too inconsistent, what was a free kick or a mark down one end of the ground wasn't down the other end of the ground and 9 times out of 10 was paid in the Panthers favour. I wasn't saying that it was the difference in the game. I admit South played the better footy by far. Watch out next week maaaate.

I can assure you as a neutral supporter the umpiring was an non issue in the first half.

We could say the same! It will be a vastly different North side that the Eagles meet from the last time the sides met. Should be (and deserves to be) a "cracker" of a game with a fair bit at stake!

well SOUTH they are machines at home, yet when they are on the road they have struggled a bit.

I thought it would be Glenelg and norwood for 4th and 5th but after seeing what SOUTH did yesterday they are right in the mix of things now.

I would think they will be favs against Norwood and should beat them if they play that hard running game they did yesterday.

South do need a fast track and any sign of rain will bring Norwood into it.

I dont think there were enough Eagle players really desperate enough to get the hard ball and also the delivery to the forwards was a bit ordinary.

A question to the Eagle Fans, i noticed in the 2nd half that Passador came on at about 10 - 12 minute mark of each quarter, is that a common thing or was that just a change up?

Only reason that happened was 'cos he didn't touch the ball when he was on and was totally outplayed by Alipate. If I were the Power I'd be pretty happy with the likes of Carlile, Chaplin and whoever they get this year high up in the draft (likely to be one of the three highly rated kpp players) as key position players for the future.

Looking at the stats and best player lists for the last month, it looks like Jarred Wright (assume it's the same one that was at the Brisbane Lions a few years back) has been playing some of the best football in the entire competition along with Younie from North, with apologies to any other standouts I've missed.
Is anyone able to shed any light on what's suddenly made Wright start to fire right up?

i thought that at some stage during the game perhaps a small quick bloke 1 out in the 50m would have been a good change up considering the forward structure you had wasnt quite working.

Fuller's change up when things aren't going well in the forward line is always to put Lindsay (or Jacobs) to full forward with someone like Inkster or Rugolo. I agree with you, leaving Inkster one out might be a good option, but on the weekend South were so dominant that no matter what was tried in the forward line it wouldn't have mattered. Although he did move Symmons in to the forward line at 3 quarter time and he kicked three goals in about 5 minutes, South were still too good in general play for it to make a difference.

I fully agree that South were clearly dominating all over, but as an outsider i thought maybe Fuller was a little slow in adjusting the forward line strategy. I have seen Lindsay be 1 out in the square, but i just had the feeling that a smaller guy may have been a bit better. i guess its one that may happen in the future if you're team is unfortunate to be getting hammered in that manner.

I can picture Inkster flying and taking the odd hanger a few years back ,this might be what MT79 is alluding to .From the games I have been to and I missed this effort Fuller is playing the guys further up the ground and trying to develop them into midfielders/forwards and he is doing the reverse with Cooper when he plays .

Jarrod Wright,
has been around for years, he has been plagued with injuries
and has finally got into some good form
i would say Clay Sampson has been playing aswell if not better than him this year, since he has been somewhat injury free aswell, apart from his hamstring at the start of the year.
