General Manager - Football Operations (West Adelaide)

Established in 1887, the West Adelaide Football Club is considered an integral part of the SANFL. With a wholly owned two-storey licensed facility, the Club is seeking to capitalise on its strong financial position by developing the football operations to ensure long term and sustained success within the SANFL competition.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this newly created role will be responsible for all Football Operations within the West Adelaide Football Club.

Specific Responsibilities include:

* Management of Football Budget
* Player Management and Welfare
* Recruiting / Talent Identification
* Contract Negotiations
* Coaching Department
* Policy Development and Planning
* SANFL Liaison
* Media – Football Related Issues
* Direct Liaison with Members
* Facilities Maintenance
* Volunteers
* Junior Program
* Country and Metropolitan Zones


It is essential that you have significant management experience within a football environment – that being at a Club or League level. You will further require outstanding computer skills and have a strong financial management background.

It is expected that you have gained tertiary qualifications in a sports related discipline.

Personal Assistant (SANFL)

The South Australian National Football League (SANFL) is the leading State League football competition in Australia.
Working closely with the League’s nine teams and two AFL Clubs, this role presents an exciting opportunity to join a high profile sporting organisation in a fast-paced and varied environment.

Reporting to the General Manager – Commercial Operations, Strategic and Major Projects, this is a highly responsible position encompassing a wide variety of responsibilities. The primary focus will centre on providing direct assistance to the General Manager. Other core responsibilities centre around the facilitation and co-ordination of SANFL functions held in both the President’s Room and SANFL Park Pavilion Suite together with providing support to the Finance Manager on request.

The four key components of the role include:

* Personal Assistant
* Administration
* Function Co-ordination
* Human Resources

You will require exceptional communication skills, both written and oral. Typically, you will liaise directly with Senior Management, SANFL Commissioners, League Directors, Life Members, VIPs and Coterie Groups. As such, your ability to establish strong working relationships with a wide cross section of people will further enhance your effectiveness within the organisation. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate an extroverted personality trait together with a willingness to be a team player yet work autonomously and pro-actively.

As this is a very demanding and multi-dimensional role, you will require a strong attention to detail and possess a proven ability to prioritise your workloads. Exceptional computer skills are required.

You will need to be totally committed and flexible in your approach to a constantly changing and dynamic environment. Some out of hours work will be required.

Website and IT Administrator (SANFL)

The South Australian National Football League (SANFL) is the leading State League football competition in Australia.

Working closely with the League’s nine teams and two AFL Clubs, this role presents an exciting opportunity to join a high profile sporting organisation in a fast-paced and varied environment.

Reporting to the Finance Manager and the General Manager – Marketing and Corporate Affairs, the main objective of the role centres on the resolution of daily IT issues and website maintenance.

Main responsibilities include:

* Daily troubleshooting of hardware and software issues
* Maintenance of virus scan and spam filtering software and systems
* Rollouts of new IT initiatives
* Daily system backups
* Liaise with external IT consultants
* Daily updates and upgrades of SANFL website
* Maintenance of SANFL Intranet
* Update of data for Football Operations Department


You will require a strong attention to detail together with a pro-active approach in troubleshooting and recommending design and functionality improvements. Outstanding problem solving skills and the ability to prioritise workloads is essential.

It is essential that you are team orientated, adaptable and self motivated. In addition to this, you need to possess a creative personality and strong communication skills.

Ideally, tertiary qualifications in an IT related discipline is preferred.

Finance Administrator (SANFL)

Ahhh that money Coorong has refered to often that lurks beneath the floorboards has been found....
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

It'd be interesting to see what sort of money the SANFL is offering for their jobs.

The job they advertised last December which entailed Marketing and running the website really appealed to me until the recruiting agency asked me if I was willing to accept a salary of less than 40k a year. The IT job advertised above doesn't appeal to me half as much but if they up the ante as far as $$$ goes I might be interested as Im looking for a change of jobs.

I honestly hope the SANFL make jobs they offer a bit more appealing salary wise than the job I went for in December so they can actually attrackt the best people for the job as opposed to the people that will accept a crap salary.
