I disagree, it doesn't show how close the year has been, it just shows the Dogs know when to turn it on when it counts.

What I mean is, there was a chance the team that has belted both North and the Eagles in the finals so far, may not have even had the chance to do so. Blind Freddy can look at the ladder and see it was close, with four teams battling it out for three finals spots.

Yeah I know what you mean but I think that is distorted to a degree in that the Dogs always do what they need to to win a flag.
While Port were trying their guts out trying to win a game in Rd 13 and while North were trying their guts out to win a game in Rd 5 and while Glenelg were trying their guts out to win a game in Rd 1 Central always were in 2nd gear knowing exactly what they had to do the whole time.
If the Dogs thought they had to win the Rd 20 clash against Port to win the flag they would have.
