You are right Centurion. As I remember it. And it happened right infront of me.

It was a slap to dislodge the ball from the players arms.

The ball was carried high in the players arms, with chris's slap being when he was off the ground and off balanced...!

There is a mosquito on your cheek...... SLAP.... I got it...! Play on....

No free prior to the incident....

Report him and give 50.....

A slap to the face I think is a free...
Smile :)

It's only Money $$$ :)

What is happening to our SANFL guys...

DW, 1 out of two ain't bad.

The one you have wrong.
Until the Umpire calls "Play on" or "Advantage" the ball is dead. Therefore even a love tap like the one that Symmons got is an infringement.

The one you have right.
The tackle was clumsy and nowhere near being a clothesline. A real clothesline is delivered with at least a forearm and the clotheslinee will at some stage before hitting the ground be parrallel to said ground. Not fold like an Italian superstar in the World Cup.

Spirit - I understand the laws. Thanks for clarifying.
What I probably should have said was that every coach/supporter would have expected him to attempt to tackle the running player. If he'd got past and the umpire had called play on without someone making an attempt to stop him - everyone would have been peeved.

But yes by the technicality of the law the decision to give a free was correct. no disputing that.
