At least we had more then one person on each of the ropes.
If it was a bit smaller, the wind would be less of a problem.

Big deal, you had 3 people on 1 back rope- for what?
The reason you didn't struggle, was your banner was much smaller- a small matter of physics.
We were very unlucky that the breeze come up when it did, & if I could have my time again, yes, I'd have 3 on each front rope.

PS Eagles Banner makers- reinforce the top of your banner, by running a rope across from 1 pole to the other, folding that part of the banner over it, & a some thick clear tape. Then you won't have any strength problems there.

I started making banners in 87 and stopped in 2000, but done the odd one since. Can you tell me why the hell you need more than once person on a rope?
Unless you are the crows ofcourse who have 3 people on a rope.

True, would have been even less of a problem if we didn't have one but where would the fun be in that?

Seriously wedgie I seen the size of your banner. Why in the f*** would you need a banner to be that big for. Geeez it wasn't a GF banner or nothing special like that. The eagles banners are made in arestricted space hence the smaller size but expect a bugger and better banner this week. As for the ropes they didn't have 3 x 150kg + blokes on them, that would be the poles and there was only 2. Thankyou for your criticism wedgie but your time would be better spent praising us for taking the time to make our great game a more colourful spectacle. Maybe just out of interest you should pop your head in to one of our banner makings some time your more than welcome to come and have a look.

Dude, that's simple, bigger looks better!
The banners we hold up are relative babies compared to some the North and other cheer squads put together in the 80s.
Also crepe paper comes in rolls the exact length we make it.
Restricted space isn't an issue, we've often had that problem in the changerooms but build it part by part if required, we don't have that issue in the dining room though.
Mate, why would we want to look at how a smaller banner is made, wouldn't it be the other way around since ours are recognised as the biggest and best every year?

Thanks for the advice on that one punky. I am one of the people that will be making this weeks banner, so we'll definately look at that as for the reasoning behind who was wher and how many that wasn't my decision so I have no explanation for that one.

Yeah I've got to admit I have seen some very impressive efforts from your boys over the years. I must admit if you or any of the north lads had any advice as to how we could make ours better, I'd be more than happy to listen to any tips you may have. We try our best with the limited numbers that turn up to tha makings but I'd like to make some even better banners in the future starting this week.

It shows on my pc (twice now as you've quoted it).
Might be to do with the extension though, I'll reformat it.

That's half our problem, we don't have anyone in our squad that could do artwork to that size anywhere near as good. How does he make his art that big.

As a standard measure we've always used 2 on each rope generally. Works out good on most occasions - wind etc. So we've kept doing it that way. I think you'll find that most supporter groups, cheersquads, grogsquads etc generally use more than 1 on each rope.
