North actually did really well in time of the first, second and fourth quarter.
It was only the 3rd quarter time on period they lost.
Pretty crucial stage of the game though.

North's caught the horrible disease Westies have to put up for a few years, Norths got the a bad run all day from someone who watched the game with no bias

Mr Williams

Neither Williams umpired in this game, maybe they should have. Dey, Rowston and Fila were the culprits.

I had to read that post a few times to make any sense of it BR42, I think there is some punctuation missing, try just this bit,

"from someone who watched the game with no bias,

Mr Williams"

Wedgie:
1) As CK pointed out, ruling was correct, just by the barest of margins - honestly, sitting on the western side it went before, but was that close on the outer side that it may not have seemed so.
However, I agree with your general principle - I think it should be left up to the controlling ump. It also peeves me when decisions in-play are made by the non-controlling umpire (fair enough if it's something serious off the ball)

2) I too was staggered that the last three games have used 9 different umpires. That is a joke. Surely best umpires are required in finals. If we went back to two umpires like we should, we wouldn't even have 9 umpires umpiring every minor round week.

3) Thought there were 2-3 too-highs that were of the shrug, knee-giving-way types (Fiacchi I think got a couple) that went our way, but was surprised to see the count in the paper the next day.
Perhaps they were making up for all those we didn't receive in the 2's?!

Umpiring

Postby SCD » Thu Oct 05, 2006 10:36 pm

As an Eagles supporter and a Level 1 Accredited umpire, that's done over 100 Amature league games, let me weigh in on this one..
1. It was the correct decision - as per the above the North player had not made contact with the foot prior to the siren, so a no goal is correct
2. It is a really poor decision by the SANFL. I know the AFL have more games prelim week, but they work on once your dropped you're out, this is the way it should be run and unless a poor performance occurs the same umpires should do the prelim and the GF..
3. Sitting with Bayman and Mal - I commented on the good run the Eagles were getting. Every 50/50 call went the Eagles way and the Holding the Ball only came out when the Umpires wanted to... You could pick out a few things that went agains the Eagles, but all in all, they got a good go from the men or should I say umpires in white...
Port Power has 16 years history at Football Park...

The Port Magpies have 40 years history and the two shall never be confused or combined
