North sack Daniel Hargraves

All discussions to do with the SANFL

Postby once_were_warriors » Thu Nov 02, 2006 12:19 pm

The said club pays North $25000.

North CEO then goes to Hargraves new club and puts the $25k through the pokies ( should take a week or too, im sure there is free coffee and bikkies for the bloke).

Problem solved.
If at first you don't succeed , then destroy all evidence that you tried in the first place

The formula is missing a bit off the end then.

"If you have told the player he is no longer required, subtract 80% from the final transfer value."

The only pay back I care about is a victory and ultimately the premiership. All the other crap counts for nought.

So what sort of coin could Hargraves attract at an an A1-A2 club?? $500 to $1000 a game??

Serious question as I'm interested to know what a good SANFL league player can get in the top grades of the "amateurs" for taking the club President's garbage out each week????
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Punk,

My understanding is the SANFL only becomes involved when the two clubs involved cannot come to agreement on the clearance cost --- then they set the clearance fee by a set formula --- think is only for players out of contract (which a dismissed player surely is) but no 100% on this bit.

anything from $450- 700. all player payments must be audited these days and I think there is a salary cap for amateur clubs too.

Yeah but do any country clubs ever stick to it though :D Well obviously some do but its certainly not unusual for clubs to find their way around it.

its a tough one to police I know but the SANFL can request to look at clubs payments to players and a few years ago most clubs kept two sets of books

I talked to a Port player once and he said the amount of blokes at that club (businessmen) who shake players hands after games with one or more hundred dollar notes in them is amazing and he'd never accounted it at other clubs. Even reserves players got nice little bonuses if they'd played a good game.

There's no way that could be policed but personally I think good luck to them if they've got sponsors/supporters willing to do that. North players are lucky to get a beer from North supporters, even then I think they would have bought me more over the years than I would have bought them, although I did share my longneck with Brett White B&F Night! :D
