Animal sounds

Postby Magpies96 » Sun Aug 06, 2006 8:00 pm

The sounds over the PA system at North and South games when the home teams kick a goal are embarrising.
Have supporters of these two clubs complained to their club and if so what was their reaction?

Must admit the Rooster Crow cracks me up and I love it but I stand at the southern end away from the PA, it might be a tad annoying if I sat in the Grandstand or thereabouts. I think most fans prefer it and to my knowledge all the players (except 1) and the entire coaching staff love it.
The Panther growl I heard for the first time today and it was pathetic, not only the noise but because the were just copying another club.

I must admit crappy club songs being blased over the PA annoys me more.

Who really cares? I personally don't like either the panther growl or the cockle-doodle-doo, but I'm sure most of the young kids like it and that's who it's for. Along with the face painting, the bouncy castle, kicking the footy around on the hill or on the ground and the family friendly area it makes for a fun day out for the kids. There were heaps of kids on the outer side today at Noarlunga which is a good sign for the future of South and the SANFL.

Great post mate.

Both Ports are losing games at the moment so the supporters seem to want to complain about everything!

I thought it was a valid point, but each to their own.
For your sake I hope it's not a choking sound come September.

Sorry to disagree Wedgie, but South have used a Panther growl previously, about 7-8 years ago, not long after moving to Noarlunga.

Either way, it seems to add something to the atmosphere, in my opinion, regardless of which club you refer to. And opposition supporters don't like it, which is probably half the reason why it gets used!

Howdy mate, yes but they've only brought it back in the last month or two hence my point.
If it didn't work the first time why bring it back unless its working somewhere else perhaps?

I also agree with you about opposition supporters not liking it, having said that I was a neutral supporter today and it was crap.
I actually don't have an issue with using a decent growl but the noise coming out of the pa speaker sounds like a tabby cat going at it in the alleyway.

It works with some animals but with a pussy cat it doesn't.

Well a BLUE rinse sounds like "Why isn't Halbert playing......?"
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

A Blood? Maybe a sound grab from 'Wolf Creek'?

Or a bank commercial. :axe:
