Probably not a good time for someone in that position to be leaving especially when all clubs trying seal recruits for next season

PANTHER CHIEF SCORES INTERNATIONAL CRICKET POSTING

PANTHER CHIEF SCORES INTERNATIONAL CRICKET POSTING

Ben Kavenagh will be leaving the Panthers and moving to North America as Regional Director for the International Cricket Council. He will oversee cricket played by seventeen countries including the United States and Canada.

This senior appointment recognises Ben’s calibre in sports administration as well as reflecting the professional environment that Ben has been instrumental in developing at the South Adelaide Football Cub.

In the seven years of his tenure with the Panthers, Ben has demonstrated commitment and drive as an agent of change. He has done so whilst raising a young family and completing a Master of Business Administration through Flinders University. Amongst his accomplishments, Ben has assembled a first class management team both on and off the field, overseen the redevelopment of Jimmy Deane’s Entertainment Centre, negotiated for lighting and night matches at Hickinbotham Oval, secured major new sponsorships with Angus Securities, Flinders University and Solo, introduced and maintained a transparent and accountable Business Plan for the Club and reformed the structure of the Board.

Innovative match day entertainment, the Man Made Program and other community engagement and a strong financial performance are other features of his stewardship. As CEO, Ben has fulfilled South Adelaide’s values of being Visionary, Can Do & United. The Club wishes Ben and Emma and their four children every success in the next stage of their life. They will always be Panthers

Ben will continue as CEO until November during which time an Executive search for the next CEO will be conducted by SAFC Director Marc Makrid. There are several exciting projects underway at present. The SANFL Boundaries Commission will hand down its findings very soon. South Adelaide is confident that the shortcomings of the past will be redressed and that this Club will bow be allocated a fair share of football participants. Plans are afoot to up-grade the facilities at Hickinbotham Oval with the support of the AFL as part of an overall sporting hub development for the City of Onkaparinga. The new Panthers Chief will have plenty to do once appointed. Most important of all is the target in the Business Plan for South Adelaide to win the premiership by not later than 2014.

The club has progressed in many areas under Ben's watch. Whilst I havent agreed with every decision made along the way you have to say he has left the club in a much stronger position than what it was when he first took over.
SAFC- 60 years...
StKFC- 58 years..

Certainly sounds like he has done a fair job down there and 7 years from a CEO in any business is a good tenure.

Also creates an opportunity for someone knew to come in with new ideas and passion.

Sounds like a pretty lucrative position he is taking up, well done to him.

The Business plan is to win a flag no later than 2014 they say. I'd have a crack at making finals, first.

Flag is objective of Business Plan, best to have targets, plans and objectives than no plan or objective to aim for, thereby putting all endevours into achieving these goals. Why would any club have any lower expectations or objectives?

The Panthers have made a lot of noise about the Boundaries Commission report due soon. What are they expecting to get out of it?

my understandig is they simply want access to the same number of participants that other clubs have access to - does not sound too much to ask? Please, please, please Ben - make this your parting gift :ympray:

It ( a premiership ) is every clubs objective and main focus, well, it should be. To put a time line on it and be public with it is quite odd.

If Joel Cross and Nick Liddle stay AND they recruit a quality CHB then I might be inclined to agree with you.
