Which team caused Glenelg to miss the finals?

Postby Pseudo » Thu Jan 04, 2007 12:02 am

OK folks, since September the fans of several clubs have suggested that their mob was responsible for knocking Glenelg out of the finals race. Once and for all let's determine who really can lay claim to that mantle.

Was it the Panthers, belting Glenelg in the Prelimination final? Just ask their fan (sic), he'll tell you it was.

Ask BPRPB and he'll swear it was the Roosters. Well, the Roosters and Ben Mules and Justin McConnell.

All 1,213 Sturt fans vow and declare it was their mob. Most of 'em still haven't got the stains out of their Y-fronts after that 1-point win.

Perhaps it was Port. Figures don't lie, and their Win-Loss ratio was just better than the Bays.

Or maybe Glenelg has nobody but itself to blame.

Vote away people, and bring on 2007. 8)

we got ourselves to blame as we did not treat sturt with respect that an opponent deserves also the north game we had our chance & off course the round 1 capitulation against norwood after being 37 points in front so we only have ourselves to blame
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Christ, Noone but ourselves to blame. Bayman put it beautifully and correctly, hopefully the boys have learnt their lesson and the mistakes of last year are not repeated in 2007.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

we cost ourselves any chance of playing in finals, I mean the boys already had holidays planned for september in early january so they could hardly cancel those plans!!!!!!!!!!

should have beaten norwood rd1

the eagles game at thebby should have won, controlled the game for most part

the sturt game at home was just a complete and utter mess

the north game at home when mcconnell decided it was best to put it to the top of the opposition goal square rather then kick long down the line

the port game at alberton, we were in it for a half till we got blown away in the third 1/4

the last game against south, just completely smashed after Smithy got injured

there were probably more games along the way...................................

Phew, yeah pseudo. I was drunk for a week after that miraculous victory, particularly given how few and far between Sturt victories over Glenelg have been over the last ten years

Which team caused Glenelg to miss the Finals?

Postby sturtpeter » Fri Jan 05, 2007 6:01 pm

It's actually a two point answer:

Mickan for taking the win before the game was played at Brighton Rd., and Sturt for their valiant effort at the same ground in June. :) :)

You could probably throw Norwood into the poll for their Rd 1 win over the Bays, Bays should have won that game and were comfortably in front. Paul Blandis even declared that there was no way Glenelg could lose that game at one stage in the 2nd quarter.
Very costly in the scheme of things.
Definately not North, the Bays and their fans would have written those 3 games against North off in 2006 as losses before the season even started.

Hmmmm.... Let me think.... After an up and down season, last game of minor round Bay's favourite to beat South and go to finals.

Who spoiled the FAIRY tale?

But it was more than a victory for Greece. It was a stirring example to free people throughout the world of what a few brave men can accomplish once they refuse to submit to tyranny.
