WHO IS YOUR SIDES WORST EVER CAPTAIN ?

Postby bayman » Wed Feb 28, 2007 5:35 pm

IN MY OPINION IT WAS JAMES BYRNE, YES HE COULD PLAY BUT HE WAS SELFISH & NEVER LOOKED WHEN KICKING & JUST BLAZED AWAY & WAS SOMEWHAT ABUSIVE TO TEAM MATES
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

That's a bit harsh. I thought he was OK.

I didn't say he wasn't OK (not that I'd argue too strenously with someone who said he wasnt). Why is it harsh when Im just saying the other captains we've had have all been better?

Who do you think was worse a captain than Jay Viney?

Unless you have a lower opinion than myself about North's captains then surely someone who you though was just OK would be bottom of the barrell too?

Arguably the worst captain in SANFL history....christ those dark days of the Honor years aren't very honourable for us.... :Hangman: :Hangman:
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Show off.
But it was more than a victory for Greece. It was a stirring example to free people throughout the world of what a few brave men can accomplish once they refuse to submit to tyranny.

The three Eagles captains since 1991:

Peter Schwarz
Andrew Rogers
Gavin Colville

I can't pick a "worst" there.

Isn't Gags Norwoods captain this year? Theres your answer. Dud player, cant see his captaincy being any better. Anyone who shies away from a contest shouldn't be captain

I hadn't heard the Norwood captaincy decision, but although Gags was V/Captain last season I was expecting Scott Borlace to be captain. Besides, this year's captain hasn't played a game as captain yet, so they can't be included in this discussion.

I can't think of a bad Centrals captain.

Maybe....Steven Trigg?

People are getting bad mixed up with worst.
Its like saying who's the worst out of Russell Ebert and Barrie Robran?
Most would agree Robran is the best and that Russell is the worst.
Certainly doesn't make Russell a bad player.

Great post. I was thinking the same thing, now if it was Geelong we would have plenty.

Since WWII...

Bob Quinn (1945-1947)
Lew Roberts (1948)
Reg Schumann (1949)
Fos Williams (1950-1958)
Geof Motley (1959-1966)
John Cahill (1967-1973)
Russell Ebert (1974-1978, 1983-1985)
Brian Cunningham (1979-1982)
Russell Johnston (1986-1990)
Greg Phillips (1991-1993)
Tim Ginever (1994-1997)
Darryl Borlase (1998)
David Brown (1999-2000)
Darryl Poole (2001-2003)
Tony Brown (2004-2005)
Mark Clayton (2006)

Best captain is a no-brainer.

But the worst? Hmmm...

Lew Roberts was captain/coach in our worst season.

But he was an absolute gun...
