2007 Heritage Round/Guernseys?

Are anyone aware of their club bringing out heritage guernseys in 2007 like has happened in recent years?

To my knowledge Central will be bringing out their old 80s white guernsey for their Rd 5 clash with Glenelg and North will be bringing back their old 80s candy stripe guernsey for their Rd 21 clash with Glenelg (what is it about playing Glenelg?).

Any others?

Here are the details:



Round 5 will see Centrals take on Glenelg at Hamra Homes Oval. The Bulldogs will compete in the famous "white" guernsey worn from 1979 to 1991. Players like Wilbur Wilson, John Platten, Peter Vivian & Peter Jonas gave this guernsey a proud place in all our hearts.

The match-worn guernseys will be auctioned on eBay to raise funds to support our junior football program in the northern community. The auction will begin on Monday the 7th of May.

I know a lot don't but I always liked those Centrals guernseys. They have a soccer kit feel about them which reflects the heritage of the area.

Agree. That guernsey looked great last year. I doubt Centrals will change from their successful premiership winning guernsey for a while though.

i like that one too....and that eagles one with the yellow eagle on it is a fav of mine too, not coz they wore it but the lizbeff eagles wear/wore it when i played there....classic jumper....

Thanks for the positive vibes Wedgie. I think you are right about the stripes. From my memory the blue stripe started from the top of the sholder when it was first introduced and then the stripes became thinner and the badges moved higher and higher above "nipple" level.

My favourite guernsey was the lace up version of the one you have pictured, similar but with red trim and American Football style numbers (and no sponsors badges . I guess it all depends on which era you grew up in.

Are the bays going to wear the heritage jumper as well? Hope so best jumper and should be worn every week to get rid of the Richmond jumper.

Exactly what I was hoping for myself Wedgie. I think it's a gret idea to celebrate your club's heritage. Maybe just maybe the SANFL should take a leaf out of the AFL's book and have a nominated round each season where all clubs wear a jumper from their clubs past.

Does the SANFL have to follow the AFL on everything? The AFL heritage round shits me to tears and it's anohter marketing excuse for the corporate brand, something the SANFL is not. I'm all for the occasional milestone or celebration where heritage guernseys are worn (like the 2001 centenary game between Norwood and Sturt) but doing it on a continuous basis is cost prohibitive for SANFL clubs and it's money that could be better spent elsewhere.

The Eagles had the old Torrens guernsey with the yellow eagle last year, how often do you want it brought back?

... and the old Woodville guernsey they wore later in the year was more or less the same as the Warriors jumper.
