Nice pix Wedgie. The ZZ family even get a 'guernsey' on the pic of Gummy :)

BTW what was the crowd - seemed pretty big to me. Had to park miles away, though that's par for the course at Prospect...

Cheers mate, sorry I didn't get more Sturt highlights but I took just about all of my pics in the first half.
Had to park miles away?
See that guy at the far left of the last photo?
My car was 4 metres to the left of him. :D

Top work Wedgie. You've captured the feeling of the day as well as some great action shots there. I especially like the way the crowd shows up in the background, there must have been a good atmosphere. (Well, possibly when Sturt started kicking goals, it would have been pretty anti-climatic either side of that spurt I guess).
9th shot down, the North player looks to be going in pretty hard with a hip and shoulder, aimed at that Sturt player's and his team-mate's head by the looks! What happened next?
I have a question about the North Eastern goals (from memory Prospect Oval doesn't lie perfectly North-South), in your photos there are houses visible behind those goals, I thought that there was terracing behind there? Am I mistaken, or did the council demolish some old terracing to "open up the park to the residents", like at Unley?
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

Cheers mate, I purposeley set my apeture setting to a different level to the pros so I can capture crowd in the background, its especially effective when I can take pics on the same side of myself with the grandstands in the background, the papers pics put to much emphasis on just the players IMHO.

The Prospect Council got rid of the terracing behind the Northern goal and on the southern side of the member grandstand about 8 years ago, at that stage they planned to make it like a Glenelg or Unley with all grassing around for the local residents but didn't have the brains enough to keep it banked, thankfully they stopped where/when they did. They also made the stupid decision to pull the pine trees down that used to be at the top of the terracing right around the outer and rebuild dodgy bushes that go sideways instead of up half way down the terracing.
Thank christ they stopped with their replanning of Prossie Oval there and then.

No photo of Cubilo about four foot in the air with his elbow connecting with the Sturt player's head?

Nah mate, which end was that and which quarter?
Full marks to the young lad if he did get up that high though, if he can get 4 foot in the air with an elbow connecting I have no doubt he'd easily win the next high jump gold medal the olympics.

I have the game on tape, so let me know when and where it happened and I'll shoot a copy of the tape off to the AIS.
I thought Cubillo was great today but if he managed that he played an even better game than I gave him credit for, thanks for pointing out his athleticism to me mate.

We'll have to teach him to settle down and play like Norwood player do in the latter stages of a game to calm down a bit! ;)

You idiot. Was a good and fair bump. No free kick was even paid so that should say plenty. Not AFL footy mate.

First term i think Wedgie. Almost in front of the BBQ. Johncock going backwards with the flight of the ball then Cubillo cleaned him up with a very solid and fair bump. Great footy.

I haven't seen the incident yet, will watch it tonight, but I do remember that one and it was a perfect bump. Not even Topsy could be talking about that one, surely?

Indeed he did.
Nothing in it.
Cubillo was good all day, did Ryswyck (spell) have an opponent?
When sturt got to within 14points I'm thinking this will be an injustice if North lose.
Sturt's skill level was ordinary and that's being kind.
Adam Thomson's kicking was woeful and Tim Weatherald, a terrific stalwart of the club with nearly 300 games hasn't really played a good game in 3 years and his disposal is STILL very ordinary.

Sturt need another target up forward besides Chambers quick smart otherwise the fall down the ladder will be a rapid one.

That was a great bump and fair, there wasn't even a free kick paid! It's as if you are trying to bring the AFL rules into the local comp!
