Sturt Cheer Squad

Postby smithy » Sun Jun 17, 2007 12:41 am

Got to admit that when I saw all those floggers (way more than usual) and flags today it raised a few hairs on the back of the neck....

If only a few more cheer squads could make as much an effort as what the SCS did today it would certainly add a bit more colour to games...

Easily the most colourful cheersquad of the last decade at least.

Ports also travels well but the rest of the comp are down in numbers and flags/floggers/etc.

Well done to whoever organises the floggers, etc in the Sturt CS.

From memory:
Port have flags
North have flags
Central have nothing except the end to enders
Glenelg haven't had a cheer squad for donkeys years although the way the Snouts chants kids chants at times they could get a gig.
South have a good cheersquad especially considering their supporter base.
Westies sarge does a great job.
Norwood have flags and the occasional flogger by memory.
Eagles have an unusual assortment of folk with flags.
Sturt = lots of colour

The Sturt CS looked great on TV with those 'floggers' (assume they are the pom-pom things) - brought back great memories of cheer squads in the past

Well done lads

Bought back a lot of memories, before the expanded VFL Knackered the SANFL competition. Sturt CS should be congratulated. 8)

That's fantastic. I thought it was dying out big time but it's come back in a big way and looks great.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

I think they really add something. Also its about time the high fencing was taken down behind each of the goals so the cheer squads can be right behind each goal. The fencing isnt at any AFL ground nor Adelaide oval so I dont think its necessary and it detracts especially when watching a SANFL game on TV and seeing an area vacant of spectators behind each goal. At Norwood I have to stand to one side of the goal mouth but would much rather be directly behind the goals.

Most club cheersquads are full of floggers.

i have been there with you and been arround the cheersquad for near on 15 years... btw im 21 now so its been a while, lol and the main prob for us is that one week we will get maybe 3 ppl to a game and then the next week we will get 15... which makes it hard for us....

but i have to say every year the Sturt Chearsquad always looks good but im not sure what its like for other teams supporters weather they have the same probs as us but there are a few that still put in the effort ie. flags, banners and such which is good to see but we always need more ppl to put in the effort at games be it home or away, come and wave a flag and help to support your team that little bit more..... after all it all helps and it all looks alot better on tv to... :D

so a shout out to all north supporter come down and join the fun V west at the scoreboard end in 2 weeks.... south is to far for everyone to come...lol
