A rarity

Postby Wedgie » Sat Jun 30, 2007 11:48 am

Its nice to go to the footy today knowing there's 4 games on a Saturday afternoon, I'll be able to look up at the scoreboard and see how all the games are going and before 5pm tonight the round will be done and dusted, I think it only happens about 3 times this year with this being the 2nd.
We'llall be able to log on tonight and discuss the full round and the new look of the table.
I remember when every round was like this.
I wish it still was.

yeah agreed :)

i remember when 9/10 games were like that and you would listen to the radio on the way home and all the scores and call ins...was fantastic. and then read the double page spread in the mail the next day. nowadays, its half a page with the lower grades in the back section :?
Carn the blues!!!!!

I also agree. It is nice to have all the results happen at the same time, and get the simultaneous cause and affects of the round all at once, rather than waiting to see how the various results tie in with each other. A bit like seeing parts of the movie's end before the beginning. Though sometimes it is good to have games played on different days, just as films like Pulp Fiction are good, provided they all aren't done like that all the time.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

Agreed with this. I know that Saturday is the traditional timeslot, but Friday nights are enjoyable to go to, plus it gives a chance to go and see more than one match. Hopefully Glenelg gets adequate lighting for next season, so a Friday night match can alternate between Adelaide, Glenelg and Norwood for 3 out of every 5 weeks.

And a few matches scheduled on Sunday doesn't hurt either - although this year was probably a bit overkill on that.
