Jars on Hargraves

Postby eddie-eagle » Mon Jul 16, 2007 4:23 pm

I'm in melb at the moment and Jars is a regular AFL commentator broadcasting games from AAMI into melbourne on SEN 1116 AM.

Prematch (West Coke vs Chocko's Chokers) his co commentators (KB & others) were talking up his aspirations for the melbourne job (LOL) and saying how Melbourne would not lack discipline when he got the job as he sacked his clubs leading goalkicker for the last five years.

Jars then went on to say, "yes his name is Daniel Hargraves, he was found to be drinking at the casino at 7 am in the week before our prelim final last year. Once that got back to me that was his last game at the club and the reason for his sacking"

This may be common knowledge to some fans, but was the first time I heard this in the public arena.

I don't think rooster fans can come on here and express annoyance at how bad a decision it was, based on the facts described by Jars.

Big of Jarman to make those comments.

I wonder what the scenario was with him when Mr Blight weilded the axe in 96/97.

Remember that everything he is saying now, particularly when it is beamed to Melbourne, is part of a "job interview" in his eyes. He will publicly state that which he has not previously to impress those who he thinks are now looking at him.

Nothing to gain from it, but the truth always comes out...

Good on him for sacking Hargraves. He'll be back to kicking 1's and 2's in no time...

What sort of an idiot would be drinking at 7am during the week leading up to the clubs most important game in years?

I'm simply saying that he's let his team mates down. Trust me if Chambers did this I'd be the first to say that I didn't want him inthe team.

Surely you don't condone this behaviour Tassie.

Hargs can go to Adelaide Oval in September and have a beer at the footy
and watch CD/ST/NA/EG/GL play in the finals.

If that's the case, then I agree with you MT79. What's good for one is good for all.

So is it correct that ANJ was that outraged that he let him keep playing for as long as North were in the finals?
He's still my hero even if he is a little bit crap.

So did Jars know before or after the Prelim that this incident had occurred? It's starting to confuse me (but then I'm not that bright). :)

With Hargs being such a popular player at North - maybe Jars is sick of being questioned/second-guessed about the decision and decided to get it out once and for all?

Prob tho showing off a bit at how tough a 'disciplinarian' he is .....

At least we got a straight answer to a straight question unlike other clubs dancing around the edges of these things

Mmm, I'll watch this thread with interest later :D

But it was more than a victory for Greece. It was a stirring example to free people throughout the world of what a few brave men can accomplish once they refuse to submit to tyranny.
