Laird to stand down?

Postby pipers » Sun Jul 22, 2007 12:42 am

Heard this the other day. Already told the CDFC Board. Off to flog real estate.

Can anyone from Central confirm this?

I'll ask Roy Loiterer himself. I'm tipping we'll see him again later today on sunday, loitering outside the eagles changerooms at woodville, trying to listen in and learn.

I doubt its true, he comes across to me as a very loyal bloke (and a great bloke and a fantastic coach) and I could only see him eventually moving on when there's the right person in the wings who is fully up to speed with how to continue Central's dynasty.
Having said that Im not up to date with who his current assistants are and how capable they'd be, cue Dog supporters....

Daniel Healy is coaching the ressies. Scott Lee's name will come up. I don't think it will be too much of a problem if it happens. Not much will change

Suggest he's simply doing "a Gowans", contract negotiations must be coming up ! If there is any truth in the rumour there's a couple of possible candidates, Daniel Healy is currently an assistant and knows a liitle bit about the culture of the club, and a bit about finals, or there's another option doing an apprenticeship down at Unley, Rick MacGowan.

As for Roy learning anything from the Eagles, dear oh dear, interesting to see how they're travelling now that MacGowan is no longer in the coaches box holding Rons' hand !

You could be right Mr Irate time will only tell.
But its the truth laird is quiet often sitting in the grandstand at EAGLES games , when the dogs have the bye.
Does anyone think its strange that a Port fan would bring this up .Port must be trying anything to win !!

Hope Sturt locks McGowan in for a couple more years ASAP. I think he's currently on a 2 year contract?

Hi Mickyj, yep I know where he sits, and have no probs with that. I DO have a problem however, after he got busted loitering around the back of the main grandstand near the toilet entrance, trying to listen in to Ron's prematch address through the windows on one occaision.

Keep an eye on him.

At least rick macgowan when he came along to the south eagles match sat by the scoreboard with his family.

More Rumours.

I think Roy is the best coach we have had - and we have had some good ones.

I'm sure the club will do everything they can to keep him. I am a little surprised that one of the AwFL clubs don't try amd poach him.
We used to be good :-(

Did you have any concerns about them trying to listen to the coach's address?

I would think what is said in a dressing room behind closed doors is private and not intended for public knowledge, especially the coach of another team. That is generally speaking. I have no idea about this incident...
