Power Ratings After Rd 16 2007

Postby Wedgie » Sun Jul 22, 2007 10:53 pm

Haven't done this for a while but it was started by the Footysa crew and now is a good time to discuss "power" ratings.

For those unaware, "Power" ratings is rating clubs in a ladder format but instead of going on win/loss it goes on current form and is purely subjective and open for discussion.
Power ratings can change from week to week depending on form.

My current "power" ratings:

1. Central
2. Sturt
3. Eagles
4. Glenelg
5. Port
6. Norwood
7. North
8. West
9. South

Bit generous with Port i reckon Wedgie. They have only won one of their last 9 or 10 games and even that was only against North.

Port played North on their lucky day. Another poster pointed out (John TC or Hondo) that Port were being lined up for their longest winless streak, and North were getting orders from the AFL about where to use players, Jar's announced his AFL ambitions, and there were a couple of other upsets happening around the club in that week. Put all that together and you have an unsettled North side and dozing Port with a sudden wake up call. Port are good when they are switched on, the same thing could be said about South however, a team with no heart is a crap side and Port really needed to show heart against North and caught them on the hop IMO. I expect North to bounce back hard after their recent run.
My rankings:

Centrals
Sturt
Eagles
North
Glenelg

Port
Norwood
West
South
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

Yeah, Port caught us on an off day, Sturt caught us on an off day, Glenelg caught us on an off day and West when they were 5 goals up caught us on off day, Central only ever catch us on off days, FFS even South drew with us on a day they deserved to win!
FFS the rest of the comp must be sick and tired of us running teams into form.
Port beat North because they are a better side than us, pure and simple.

In that case Wedgie, Eagles, North, Norwood, and Glenelg caught us on off days, and we got out of that scrap at Alberton by the skin of our balls as with the two times we have played West this year. Have a bit of faith in your coach and team! Not long ago you were bottom and broke, that adversity brought the strongest elements of your club together and now you are regular finals contenders. Now that you are in a much better position a lot of those same elements think it is time to start slagging their own team off because the ultimate prize still hasn't been reached.
Patience! Have you considered the negative affects that your high profile bagging of the coach and co' may be having on your reborn club?
I think you will have some well worded answers to my suggestions here, so maybe it is better to let this ride on to the Norwood game after your bye. North should get up, and if they don't I'll be ready to concede that the Roosters are in serious trouble.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

Mate, I get bagged by others on here when I bag the coach, I get bagged by others on here when I back up the coach.
It doesn't make much difference as I'll just get bagged!

PS Last time I bagged a North coach it had a very positive affect on the club not a negative affect.

See that's the problem. It isn't 2003 any more. The NAFC will not progress any further if it continues with the attitude that "not long ago we were crap now we're better so even if we continue to fall short it's still OK because once we were worse".

And why should Wedgie not say what he thinks? If reading comments from Wedgie has a negative impact on the performance of any player or coach it says a lot more about that player or coach than it does about Wedgie.

Looks about right to me Theri with the exception of the bottom two, which should be swapped around.

Agreed. Surely West is the bottom club? TRB is top of the tipping so he must have a fair idea :)
We used to be good :-(

The majority of opinions I have read, (if not all) from North fans haven't been as you described all year. Even when the Roosters were clearly the second best side, there were the angry cries about underperformance.
Anyway I don't want to go on with this line. It is what I believe and if it was about Sturt (as was the case last year) I'd stick to my guns a bit more, but it is your club, support it however you will. I just think you aren't travelling that badly ATM. If you lose to the Legs I'd change my mind about that.
BTW, I don't think I have infringed Wedgie's right to voice his opinion in anyway. He's free to write what he wants regardless of what my advice was, and even so I never said don't write what you think. :?
