Unbeatable at Alberton?

Postby wedgetail » Sun Jul 29, 2007 10:05 pm

I have noticed with interest and humour, (given the Eagles superb success rate at Alberton in the past 5 or so years) the sign in the PAM's players' race leading onto the oval-'Unbeatable at Alberton'.
Spelly, given the PAM's atrocious record at home this year, is this this a 'worst-ever' year at home for the PAM's? Will be very intersted to hear of your research!

It probably is. One year in 137 years has to be the worst, and this might be it... Who cares. We weren't gonna win the flag anyway.

And nor are you...

btw - I think Woodville had a pretty poor home record...

Perhaps he should have read the ressies team in Friday's paper and seen how many senior players have been coming back from injury in the last two weeks..........

One wonders why you get close enough to the PAMs player race to be able to read it in the first place...

Its written in Big letters so the players can read it as they walk out

I noticed this earlier in the year when Sturt beat the PAMs down there earlier in the year and drove home with a smile on my face

Maybe the sign means that the opposition (not Port) is unbeatable at Alberton? *grins*

There's a sign on the fence on the way into HHO at Elizabeth that says 'No Dogs Allowed'. So really Central should forfeit each home game. :D ;)

So the PAM have been around 137 years and Port Adelaide Power have also been around 137 years? Which Port Adelaide has won all the flags?
No wonder PAM have trouble winning at Alberton its the Power's home ground !!!
And before Fatal has a heart attack have witnessed first hand both port tribes fighting over the oval after a loss to the EAGLES .And that was in 2006 so they must have had a bad year then as well.Oh damn thats right you weren't going to win the flag then as well.
So has Alberton been visitor friendly since the power went into the afl?

Allegedly both. I don't know how that works either, but I like it.

Yep they sure were Fatal, well about which Port Adelaide owned it.
People in power gear said the power owned it and people in black and white said magpies owned(I cleaned up the language). Neither group of fans were happy with each other PERHAPS both Port Adelaides were losing. :D
Well it took the heat away from your coach playing your fullback at fullforward.

People in Power gear... Pffft!

As for the coaching move of Ah Chee to FF, that first happened under Knights. As I said, history is rich at Alberton, and occassionally we like to relive past "glories".

well you must admit there is more power gear than magpie gear being worn.this would also apply to crows over other sanfl teams.

Actually I completely disagree with this statement. There is some, but it is far less this season than it has been in the past.

Exactly, the van is there every week. No excuse.

I think the baby bonus has helped with people now able to afford to buy some genuine SANFL magpie gear...
