Spot on. Backwell is shocking for it...

I was almost cutting the old wrists at the thought of Williams, Rowston, Dey, but they proved me wrong.

The free kick ratio was pretty well in favour of the Bays but, overall I thought it was the best umpired match I've seen this year. They let the game go and hopefully a similar style will be employed next week...

The disappointment is immense, especially when the loses are 2 and 5 points points respectively.

I've already noticed some gloating from others about the results which I will not dignifiy with a response other than anonymous cheap shots are easy to make so go ahead and have your fun if that makes you feel good.

Fisrt of all, well done to Sturt today, thoroughly deserved the win. They withstood the first quarter onslaught and played the better football for the rest of the match.

The Bays lacked composure when it mattered but they did not give up and fought to the end. That lack of polish cost them both finals.

There are no excuses ... the Bays had control of their destiny and weren't good enough, but not by much.

I am proud of my club and their efforts, but obviously gutted by the result.

I and the Glenelg Football Club hold our heads high
. This year is not to be.

Congratulations to Central and Sturt for deserving their places in the 2009 GF. It will be a cracking game and best of luck to both teams.

WTF

You cant be serious once again we have failed and failed big time Its crap like this that will never make us the great club we want to be once again they have let themselves and their loyal supporters down Fans actually clapped them off good god we have the worst GF record in the comp WE Have all 3 grades in the finals 2 of which will be in the GF We are without doubt the biggest under achievers in sport

HOLD OUR HEADS HIGH

GOOD GOD

Feel free to support another club if that will help you, we don't need so called supporters like you... I have supported this club for nearly 40 years and I don't post comments lightly.

I mean every word ... I did not clap them off today and did not say I was pleased or satisfied with the result, far from it, but I can still be proud. If you didn't notice or appreciate that those fellas busted their guts today then your understanding of football must be questionable.

Pity they did not bust their gut or take a bit of pride in their goal kicking i to have supported this club for 40 plus years

The pressure of expectation can be a big thing. I know Glenelg have had kicking problems all year but I honestly reckon the big game pressure got to some players today...

Some posters in the preview thread were goading Bays supporters with 'straight sets' taunts. I reckon the idea of failing in that manner was playing on the minds of the Bays players...

Having said that, they lost two games by a combined total of 7 points. It's alright to be devastated, but you should still be proud of the efforts of your team this year...

Does anyone actually think Glenelg didn't bust their guts to win today?

Surely no one can think they didn't... every single team this finals series has really given their left nut to win the game.

Every team has had players that have made mistakes, chosen the wrong option, done something dumb, Sturt did that in the Centrals game, but bottom line remains the same, each team put in 100% to win...

Hence why the margins have been so small... look at last year, Glenelg thumped Sturt, Sturt thumped Norwood, Norwood thumped Port Adelaide I think, a bunch of blowouts. This year, a kick in just about every game.

Surely that says something...

Seeing Old Man Nelson run rings around 'Hot Chips' Backwell gladdened the heart.

csbowes wrote:The first thing I'd like to say is commiserations to the Tigers faithful. I don't consider them chokers. It was just really unfortunate that they went down in two close games at the wrong end of the season. The Tigers put in a fantastic performance against the Bulldogs and for a myriad of reasons, just couldn't keep the momentum going in the last to win the match. Today, I thought the Tigers threw absolutely everything at Sturt in that last team but just couldn't buy that most important last goal.

Its a real shame for them. A fantastic season, back-to-back minor premierships and unfortunately you have to be honest and say that today and this season is one of lost opportunities as they needed to go one step further than last year.

For the Blues, well we managed to stay in touch as the Tigers pumped us early on. Bad kicking is bad football and luckily for us we went in at quarter time 15 points down instead of something like double that. From the next two quarters, I thought the Blues were the better side and worked hard, absorbed pressure, got some great goals and game back to the Tigers what they've been giving to us all year. That final term though, Tigers were relentless, just couldn't get the magic winner.

Some shocking kicking from their forwards no doubt cost them big time, whereas for Sturt, just 29 inside 50s to 58, meant we obviously made the most of our chances and held on for a phenomenal victory.

For me Sturt goes into the Grand Final beaten and battered and bruised with numerous injuries and no doubt the Dogs will start very short favourites with the bookies (as they should). Can the Double Blues win it again against the giants of SANFL football, who knows, it'll be tough, but it'd be some fairytale to pull it off. For now though, a chance to sit back and enjoy a spectacular and character building win and then look forward to being in the big game against the big foe.

Well done Sturt... gutsy, gutsy win!

i'd say that is pretty well spot on
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

The kicking problem should have been fixed before now

I could handle that if we started 4th or 5th we were clearly on top and learnt nothing from last year
