port played like it was bottom and that south was in the top 2. South absolutely dominated play throughout the day. Souths intensity and pressure was superb.

An amazing decision by the 3 stooges and one involved AVON LADY (michael Avon). South player took a mark on the attacking 50m AVON called play on yet another umpire penalised the port player 25m for going over the mark!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I DONT KNOW HOW AVON gets a gig umpiring he is up there with the worst of all time!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't get there till half time.
Good crowd, cars everywhere, score 8-16 to 2-2 and I couldn't find my swampy mates from work. Do you think they were avoiding me?

B&W 1st point, I hope you are feeling better and your health is improving.

2nd pt, as someone who reads most threads, particularly the game threads my comment was based on my perception that your comments have been few and far between particularly after a loss. PS Dick Douglas won us that game earlier in the year.....

AS I have said a few time recently I believe our two games against your lot will determine who makes up the numbers, Mind you based on todays effort will Port be able to stay in, based on yesterdays effort we wont be there....

tassie,I think you will find that we play your lot another 2 times this season. In a couple of weeks at the bay and the last minor round game at adelaide. Methinks that final game will be vital for both teams as to whether they play the following week.
As to your cheap shot re me being a bandwagoner, I think I've missed 3 games in the last 3 yrs, unfortunately today was one. Just because I dont hover over this site like a nerd in a trance is not a reason to question my loyalty .unfortunately I travel during the week with my employment and therefore am unable to engage in the mindless banter that occasionally finds its way onto this site.

My two games comments was based on the future tense not the past tense......

My comments were based on perception, let me check my pocket calculator while I run a MANOVA with a post hoc test to check the validity of my statement "bandwagonner" compared to the "paper tiger jibe". I will use a binomial distribution of our finals appearances since 1921 30 v 21 correlated against premierships 4 v 3 and spoons 18 v 21 to determine statistical power......

point taken tassie. Unfortunately history and statistics mean absolutely zilch when looking at your next game. Ask Tim Ginever.

Couldn't agree more, you can't change history only shape it.....

The bottom line is that of our teams only one will play finals and it will be the team that wants it the most.....

Based on this weeks games smart money will go on South but as you and I know so well that over the last 15 years we have never known what version of our teams will show up each week, the Jeckyll or Hyde version.....

Hooray for magnificent statistical terms such as "MANOVA" and "binomial distribution" making their debut on safooty

tassie, you never know your luck.... the magpies may continue to gladden everyones heart and continue their dismal form and miss the finals completely. Norwood and our teams would then vie for the 2 vacant positions....tough one for you boys next week eh??
Its true its a ridiculous old cliche but "you can only take each week at a time" especially when you have no idea what mindset your players will have from week to week.

We won the reserves!! Woo hoo. Thats where the fun ended

Honestly, by 3qtr time, it was more amusing than anything. That may just have been some sort of coping mechanism, (as watching my team get absolutely trounced isn't something Im used to), or the fact I was watching the game in the company of a South supporter who was quite happy, and suprisingly humble. I didn't expect to win today, but losing by 107 points is just stupid.

Spelly, can you list the times that South have won by over 100 points?

Gotta do some soul searching now and get ourselves out of this rut. No excuses for a disgraceful performance like that. Could tell right from the start that it was going to be a bad one when South had 7 scoring shots to 0 in the first 5 minutes.

Some players need a right rocket. Pity we have no depth at the moment. Will be interesting to see how Tim can turn this crap around. Could make or break him as a coach.
