Got nothing to with this being a Roosters site - you posted an inflammatory "no clue guess" so what did you expect? I tell you what I will meet up with you Sunday and I will introduce you to our Board Chairman and CEO, then you can relay your concerns about the NAFC to them - they are always amused by rumours, no truth stories and fairy tales.

As Adelaide grows wouldn't it be better to gain an extra team in the comp, to make ten teams? Maybe a team in the Modbury/ Tea Tree Gully Area?

Don't mean to be cynical, but what do you mean by rosy, and how could that happen?
For me, rosy is increased crowds, increased exposure, higher standard, bigger sponsorship and more money. Hard to see most of that happening when there's an AFL sucking all of those things away. Perhaps if Bill Gates took a sudden interest in SANFL footy we'd have the monetary clout to buy back our players. I imagine there'd be a few damn handy SANFL sides if they had their AFL defectors back. Crowds would turn up in droves to see them perform for the good old guernseys.

When I suggested we sell the licences years ago so we can cash in on port and crows when the market was good.

I was told by many posters the sanfl would simply die without afl revenue. It now looks like after wasting millions on afl clubs we are going to sell off port and crows licence at the bottom of market prices. Yet I've heard no talk about sanfl dying once this occurs.

So will we die now. Or was the original sanfl will die without afl revenue another "sky is falling" theory from clueless afl fans??? ;)

The sanfl stands to make $$$$$$ out of the sale of aami and crows.

Expansion could be a possibility.

Looking forward to centrals receiving Salisbury and mawson lakes back as recruiting zones when pamfc are moved on.

Sorry I can't agree with that, I believe the standard of players is good to excellent, it's the umpires and the rules committee who are dragging our game backwards into total confusion and it is showing.

As for the rules, how about commonsense in getting umpires to blow the whistle and get in and bounce at scrimages a lot quicker, or a rule that says third man into a scrimage the team is penalised with a free kick awarded against them, either rule will open up therefore quicken up the game considerably.

Confucious Say:
"All umpires take and pass the same training course, however pass mark not set at high level"

Cheers,

Sale of licenses and AAMI are all one offs. Once those assets are gone we can't sell them again. For the SANFL to expand with confidence we'd need a productive and continual financial stream. Perhaps if they invest the money from those sales in something that'll keep producing cash far in to the future then we'd be alright.
Any suggestions? Obviously football ovals aren't the way to go. Unfortunately the most assured way of financing the future seems to be pokies.
With all the talk of a lack of infrastructure at Mount Barker, perhaps the SANFL would do well to invest in a massive shopping mall for South Australia's fastest growing suburb. In Japan those things basically print their own money.

I think the answer is that the SANFL will still be taking their share (whatever that share will be) of match day profits from AFL games at AO through the SMA. I'll stand corrected if this isn't the case.

I think that AFL match day revenue was always > dividends they got back from owning the licenses net of funds they had to kick back in.

So to clarify we were never going to simply die without afl clubs thanks hondo. Took us a few years and a lot of wasted millions of dollars but we got there in the end.

I believe we get match day revenue due to our ownership of aami stadium.

Yes that's right uk fan. Profits from hosting AFL games will still make up a decent proportion of the SANFLs total revenue as it has for the last 21 years. Rightly or wrongly and whether or not the licenses are sold.
