It does seem poor business sense paying someone $600 to do what three other stations will be doing anyway?

If three blokes agreed to mow my lawn for free I certainly wouldn't pay a fourth bloke.

Bizare decision. At least let them see the season out.

And in times where more and more grassroots footy is covered via community radio...

Can't answer that with any certainty, mate...

I certainly hope so, but it is a decision that station manager Hans Reimer has to make...

The commentators and volunteers from RPH are having a few drinks in a fortnight's time, will perhpas know more then, mate...

Time will tell...

Increasingly the SANFL knows the price of everything and the value of nothing.

Very disappointing. RPH have been a fantastic contributor to our great Competition.

I don't approve of either the ABC or AA coming on board for the Finals.

Sincerely hope RPH will broadcast the SANFL in 2016.

No, but some silky skills would be helpful.

I'm just curious to know if it was SP buying him the drinks again on the weekend.

Pretty sure AA and ABC will be broadcasting the SANFL finals this weekend...

LifeFM will again be calling all the action and will again have a jam packed day of coverage next week, for the Grand Final...

Myself and Don Cooper will also be commentating the video stream of the Maccas Cup U18's GF this coming Sunday, from about 11am on the SANFl website. Probably being joined by Zac Milbank, as well...

I have been able to follow my team by radio more so than any other medium this season. Given the significant drop in crowds - the SANFL surely wouldn't want to risk losing one of their most important links that at least keeps people interested in the SANFL, even if they don't go every week. Because 891 or 5AA and even Ch 7 surely won't be keeping me updated on what's happening with my team throughout the season.
For all of the 'we're moving forward in our coverage, getting modern as tomorrow, and that costs, so some of the old media might have to fall by the wayside' rhetoric—the geniuses at the SANFL seem to have not noticed, or don't care, that SANFL has not been put up by Channel 7 on its Plus7 app and website this year. (They did so in 2014.)

That's the first year since ABC iView got itself properly set up (I guess 2009 or so), that the SANFL TV broadcast match of the week hasn't been up on the internet. Not such bad news from a Norwood supporter's perspective—first year for a while when there was nothing much worth watching—but a retrograde step for the comp as a whole. By the way, I flicked on NITV (digital free-to-air indigenous channel) the other night, and they were playing a NTFL replay. If you have the content, and dozens of digital channels to fill, why not actually get it out there?

Because they'd have to drastically cut down on the infomercials for the Shark Rotator (tm)?

Watched it on tele last week. Went out so tuned into the radio. It was aweful and just commentary with absolutely no atmosphere. Terrible . I imagine someone surfing through stations and hearing that. ...
