Yuck! They were indeed dark days at Nwd.

Bit like the Keane, Higgins, Davies, Trigg days...

Anyhoo, back to topic. I wish Ken well in his newly simplified life...and expect that somewhat predictably North will re-find its mojo just because there's been a change of coach.

The last coach to leave Sturt on his own terms was Oatey, back in 82'.

Bassett?

Made a nice contrast with Trevor Hill, Macca and Rocky.
Ah, whatever happened to those good old days?

Don't forget Dale Lewis in 2005, as well...

Josh Francou, our coach before McGregor

How's your club's track record when it comes to coaches

You Blues fans are vicious...I'd type a list of your dud coaches but I've only got 38 minutes left of my lunch hour....

On the other hand. It wasn't till Oatey got to a real club did he have his greatest success. ;) :finga:

Michael Handby wrote:Dear fellow Roosters,

First of all I would like to acknowledge the responsibility I feel to all of you whilst coaching the team for the remainder of the year.

The North Adelaide Football Club is one I have come to love over my years here. From being thrown an SANFL Lifeline as a player to then retiring and being asked by then senior coach Josh Francou to join him as an assistant.

During this time I have learned so much about the club and coaching but three key points really stick out to me. These three points are what I believe make North Adelaide special:

1.We are a strong benchmark club in the SANFL off the field, and we have among the best facilities and resources in the league made available to our football program.

2.Without doubt we have the most committed supporters in the SANFL. Whether it be those of you in the grandstand, the outer wing, the cricket club or those who every home game congregate at the southern end, your loyalty and passion is to be admired

3.North Adelaide has its own brand of football and when we are true to the North Adelaide brand of football more often than not we win more games than we lose.

I can't promise you specific results on how many games we may win or lose for the remainder of the season, however what I can promise you is that over the coming weeks you will see changes in the way we play and those players who show the will and desire to win will be rewarded at selection.

Finally, I invite all of you to join me and the rest of the coaches back in the clubrooms for a drink after our home games. I encourage you to come and speak to me and the other coaches and share your thoughts on the game of football in general.

No coach can turn it around so quick. McGregor left the club in a mess, will take awhile to get them back on track

The football trend is for a new coach to be accompanied by some degree of success and revelation. They were down by 14.13 to 1.2 at 3/4 time and ultimately lost by over a ton. Results were never that bad under Ken. They played Centrals FFS who are clearly the seventh best team. Today's effort is their worst of the season for mine by a mile.
