With the southern football league not playing this weekend itd be an ideal weekend for south to draw a good crowd to Noarlunga and they're playing away. SANFL, you've done it again.

Yep absolutely no foresight in the SANFL.

In saying that though who came out with their fixtures first the SANFL or the SFL.

Country Championships are programmed by the SACFL All country leagues have the week off.

If anything maybe South could have requested a home game be programmed this weekend but They have a million other things to worry about than wondering if the SFL & GSFL are playing or not. Next best result would be playing at Glenelg.

At least they are playing, Central shouldve been playing at home too

Central only up because of Good Friday.
Considering last year was the worst in a very long no time this figures are awful and damning.
How do they compare to 2013 Phil?
(And thanks for the stats, always appreciate them)

Year by year the magpies/power supporters drop off everywhere especially at Alberton.
Time for games at Alberton to finish.
The extra home game for clubs can only help their bottom line.

Cheers Phil. Youch, a drop of about 20%. At this rate noone will be at games in 2028. :(
There's no way the current model can work, all SANFL fans should be opposed to it.

Crowds in the SANFL down by 20%, Adelaide Oval crowds down 5.5%.
Things looking awful for footy in this state, that's a lot less people going to SANFL and AFL games here.

And 2013 was, at that point, one of the most ordinary years for weather (and crowds) ever.

All crowds below 2K despite glorious weather. Looks like 2K+ crowds are going to be the exception rather than the norm now.
The AFL clubs really have hit the comp hard and sent it into a downward death spin.
Can't even blame Adelaide Oval with AFL crowds dropping 7% there from its initial year.

The figure quoted in the media has to be incorrect. The hill was well covered, a decent wait for food at the BBQ and a steady flow to the beer van.

Perhaps it's time admit these digital counters just don't work??

Counters not working at Noarlunga all year, i have not been counted twice and again yesterday, clearly a crowd of 2,500+ attended Noarlunga yesterday.

Surely the SANFL and/or South needs to do something about this, particularly if these crowd figures are to be relied on?

Life FM estimated possibly 3,000 plus at Noarlunga. A real shame that we'll never know the real figure. Everyone who attended who has expressed a view claims something in excess of 2000 with most suggesting about 2,500.
For a club like South, who have historically low crowd figures at their home ground, a big crowd generates added interest and potentially attracts more to the bandwagon. But to publish a figure which is roughly half of those that were there, sends a negative message to those still in the woodwork; something along the lines of, even if we're 3rd playing 2nd just before finals, we're still only worth about 1,200.
Have I drawn a long bow in saying that? I have long memories of when Sturt resurged in the late nineties, there was a teal feeling of supporters getting hooked by the hype that went along with winning games. I really think there's a risk of losing some of that by publishing false and crappy crowd figures.
